Polymaterial Lattice Discrete Particle Model for the Optimization of Lightweight Aggregate Concrete: Intragranular Fracture and Compression Behavior

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC) offers clear advantages for sustainable construction, including reduced density and improved thermal insulation. However, its mechanical and fracture behavior is difficult to characterize due to the heterogeneity and brittle crushing of porous lightweight aggregates.

TRM‐to‐concrete interface bond without anchors: Combined experimental, analytical, and numerical modeling approach

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Textile reinforced mortar (TRM) systems have emerged as an effective alternative to conventional FRP strengthening solutions due to their compatibility with concrete substrates and favorable performance under adverse environmental conditions.

Crack onset analysis of adhesives for the CZM-VCCT method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
For testing and analysing crack propagation under fatigue loading, crack onset precedes any crack growth. In this work, crack onset during the testing of Double Cantilever Beam (DCB) specimens is studied.

Single Line Drawing Generation via Semantics‐Driven Optimization

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We present a method for automatically generating single‐line drawings in vector format, guided by a text prompt or an input image. Our approach leverages score distillation sampling to optimize the parameters of a uniform rational B‐spline (URBS) curve, ensuring that the drawing consists of a single continuous stroke by design.

Failure Analysis of Brazed Joints Using the CZM Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Brazing, as a type of joining process, is widely used in manufacturing industries to join individual components of a structure. Structural reliability of a brazed assembly is strongly dependent on the joint mechanical properties.

Trends in the incidence of cancers of the breast and female genital tract in Harare, Zimbabwe 1990–2019

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 4, Page 844-852, 15 August 2026.
What's new? Cancers of the breast and female genital tract represent more than half of all cancers in women in sub‐Saharan Africa. Here, the authors assessed incidence trends in a female population living in urban sub‐Saharan Africa based on the Zimbabwe National Cancer Registry in Harare over a 30‐year period.

Simulation of crack growth for metal plates with holes based on cohesive zone model

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2022
Hole defects are very common in metal plates. The propagation of cracks in engineering structural members will be affected by the holes of the members, which will not only change the propagation direction of cracks, but also have the ability to limit the

A humidity dose-CZM formulation to simulate new end-of-life recycling methods for photovoltaic laminates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Humidity and temperature greatly influence the degradation of interfacial adhesion in photovoltaic (PV) modules. Besides, for an accurate prediction of the required energy to peel off the different plies of end-of-life PV laminates for recycling purposes,

Failure prediction of T-peel adhesive joints by different cohesive laws and modelling approaches [PDF]

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2009
In this work, Cohesive Zone Modelling (CZM) was used to simulate failure of T-peel bonded joints with 1.5mm thick adherends, respectively, bonded toghether with Loctite Multibond 330 adhesive. The fracture toughness and load-opening behaviour recorded in
