In vivo monoamine oxidase inhibition by d-amphetamine

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1980
Abstract In vitro, d- and l-amphetamine (AMPH) are reversible monoamine oxidase (MAO) type A inhibitors, the d-form being approximately five times more potent. Experiments were conducted in rats to determine whether MAO inhibition occurs in vivo.

Discriminative stimulus properties of d-amphetamine-pentobarbital combinations

Psychopharmacology, 1980
Pigeons were trained to discriminate IM injections of 1.0 mg/kg d-amphetamine from water, 5.6 mg/kg pentobarbital from water, or 1.0 mg/kg d-amphetamine from 5.6 mg/kg pentobarbital by requiring them to peck different response keys depending on which substance was administered prior to the session.

Effects of d-amphetamine on schedule induced polydipsia

Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior, 1973
Abstract Two female Sprague-Dawley albino rats were selected in terms of the amount of schedule induced polydipsia which developed on an FI-1 min food reinforcement schedule at 80% of their initial body weights. The effecs of six different doses of d -amphetamine administered intraperitoneally, 0.05, 0.25, 0.50, 1.00, 1.50, and 2.00 mg/kg on bar ...

The effects of d-amphetamine on risk taking

Psychopharmacologia, 1962
The effect of d-amphetamine on the risk-taking behavior of penitentiary inmates was investigated, utilizing a gambling situation involving cigarettes. The experimental situation consisted of choices between alternative gambles involving different amounts of risk. The 29 men served as their own controls, with the number of high-risk choices made by each

Effects of d-amphetamine on schedule-induced escape

Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior, 1978
Pigeons were trained to respond on a fixed-ratio schedule during which 90 responses produced 3 sec of grain reinforcement (FR 90). Concurrently, a separate key was available on which a response initiated a time-out from the FR schedule and turned off the discriminative stimuli associated with the FR.

D-amphetamine and delinquency: hyperkinesis persisting?

Diseases of the nervous system, 2007
The clinical efficacy of d-amphetamine for delinquent behavior in adolescents and the relationships between such delinquency and hyperactivity of childhood were explored employing the methods of sequential analysis. Fourteen subject pairs of delinquent teenagers were examined, and a significant positive effect documented for d-amphetamine as compared ...
