Protein Energy Malnutrition: Opportunities for Cold Plasma Technologies

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
Protein energy malnutrition (PEM) is a major global health concern driven by biological, environmental, and nutritional factors, including gut microbiota imbalance and low protein intake. Cold atmospheric plasma technologies offer promising, sustainable solutions by improving food security, enhancing protein quality and absorption, and modulating gut ...

D-branes in curved space [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics, 1997
We obtain actions for N D-branes occupying points in a manifold with arbitrary Kahler metric. In one complex dimension, the action is uniquely determined (up to second order in commutators) by the requirement that it reproduce the masses of stretched strings and by imposing supersymmetry.

Fluorescent light and sunlight radiations may improve rice bran oil colour and influence its oxidative stability and chemical composition

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, EarlyView.
Abstract The influence of pretreatment of rice bran oil using fluorescent and sunlight radiations on its colour and their influence on its chemical composition and oxidative stability were assessed. Rice bran oil was stored under sunlight, fluorescent light and ambient conditions for 60 days. Oil samples were collected every 15 days for analysis.

D-Branes

open access: yes, 2002
D-branes represent a key theoretical tool in the understanding of strongly coupled superstring theory and M-theory. They have led to many striking discoveries, including the precise microphysics underlying the thermodynamic behaviour of certain black holes, and remarkable holographic dualities between large-N gauge theories and gravity.

Black holes and D-branes [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B - Proceedings Supplements, 1998
D-branes have been used to describe many properties of extremal and near extremal black holes. These lecture notes provide a short review of these developments.

Buck Wheat: Nutritional, Bioactive Characteristics, Health Benefits, and Side Effects

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Micronutrient deficits have resulted from an over‐reliance on a small number of cereal crops for food security. The agricultural sector faces severe sustainability issues due to the rapid growth of the world's population and sudden climatic changes.

Characterization of the Antioxidant Peptides Prepared From the Seed Kernel of Xanthoceras sorbifolium Using Enzymatic Hydrolysis: Molecular Docking Analysis and In Vitro Binding Studies

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
XSPH‐I exhibits excellent cellular antioxidant activity and cell protective effects. Four novel antioxidant peptides were screened from XSPH‐I peptide, and the newly synthetic peptide exhibits excellent antioxidant properties in vitro. ABSTRACT In this study, the antioxidant peptides (XSPH) from Xanthoceras sorbifolium oleifera were extracted and ...

D-Brane Anti-D-Brane System in String Theory [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics Supplement, 2002
In this paper, we review a system of D-brane and anti-D-brane in type II superstring theories. [A. Sen, hep-th/9904207 and references there in; Y. Hyakutake. Master-Th., Doctor-Th. (in Japanese)] This system is unstable and tachyonic modes, which have negative mass squared, appear from open strings between D-brane and anti-D-brane.
