Tin(iv) catalyzed d-galacturonic acid anomerization
Dalton Trans., 2008A comparative kinetic study of anomerization between the four main forms (alpha/beta-pyranosides and alpha/beta-furanosides) of D-galacturonic acid (GalAH(2), 1) and tin(IV) complexed D-galacturonate ([Sn(CH(3))(2)(GalA)(H(2)O)(2)], 2) in D(2)O, is reported. Important differences are shown by pD vs. mutarotation rate profiles of 1 and 2.

Methyl-α-D-galacturonic acid methyl ester
Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 1994The structure of methyl methyl-α-D-galacturonoate monohydrate, C 8 H 14 O 7 .H 2 O, has been redetermined. The sugar ring has the expected 4 C 1 conformation. The orientation of the methoxy group is gauche-trans and the methyl ester group is nearly planar and lies equatorial to the ...

The d-galacturonic acid catabolic pathway in Botrytis cinerea
Fungal Genetics and Biology, 2011D-galacturonic acid is the most abundant component of pectin, one of the major polysaccharide constituents of plant cell walls. Galacturonic acid potentially is an important carbon source for microorganisms living on (decaying) plant material. A catabolic pathway was proposed in filamentous fungi, comprising three enzymatic steps, involving D ...

The Antitubercular Activity of D-Galacturonic Acid Isonicotinyl Hydrazone*
Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1953D-Galacturonic acid isonicotinyl hydrazone, a new compound, is prepared with a high yield by combinin d-galacturonic acid with isonicotinic acid hydrazide. The new drug is highly active, both in vitro and in vivo, against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv and comparatively much less toxic than isonicotinic acid hydrazide.

Identification in Agrobacterium tumefaciens of the d-galacturonic acid dehydrogenase gene
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2009There are at least three different pathways for the catabolism of D-galacturonate in microorganisms. In the oxidative pathway, which was described in some prokaryotic species, D-galacturonate is first oxidised to meso-galactarate (mucate) by a nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD)-dependent dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.203).

Oxidation of D-galacturonic acid by vanadium(V)
Inorganica Chimica Acta, 1986Abstract The kinetics of the oxidation of D-galacturonic acid by vanadium(V) in acid solution have been studied. The reaction is of the first order with respect to both vanadium(V) and the organic substrate. Formic acid and oxovanadium(IV) are the final reaction products.

Preparation of 14C-labeled pectic acid and D-galacturonic-14C acid
Carbohydrate Research, 1972Abstract 14 C-labeled D -galacturonan [poly( D -galacturonic acid)] was isolated from the alga Chara globate grown in the presence of 14 CO 2 . The polysaccharide provides a convenient source for the preparation of uniformly 14 C-labeled oligo( D -galacturonic acids) and D -galacturonic acid.

Methanolysis of D-galacturonic acid: dimethyl acetals
Carbohydrate Research, 1974Dimethyl acetals of galacturono-6,3-lactone and methyl galacturonate are formed during methanolysis of galacturonic acid. The products of methanolysis were studied by ion exchange and gas chromatography. Trimethylsilyl (TMS) derivatives were used in gas chromatography. Structure determinations were made from mass spectra of the TMS derivatives.

d-Galacturonic acid derivatives as acceptors and donorsin glycosylation reactions
Carbohydrate Research, 1992Jones oxidation of suitably protected allyl beta-D-galactopyranosides and subsequent esterification were reinvestigated. Partial deprotection of the resulting D-galacturonic acid derivatives afforded compounds suitable for transformation into glycosyl acceptors.
