Identification of Pathways for Production of d-Glucaric Acid by Pseudogluconobacter saccharoketogenes

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2023
Pseudogluconobacter saccharoketogenes produces glucaric acid from D-glucose via two pathways, i.e., through D-glucuronic acid or D-gluconic acid. These pathways are catalyzed by alcohol dehydrogenase, aldehyde dehydrogenase, and gluconate dehydrogenase.

Urinary D-glucaric acid

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1969
Abstract The administration of phenobarbital, a known hepatic microsomal enzyme induction agent, to human females causes a significant increase in urinary D-glucaric acid. Similar increases occur following administration of progesterone. These observations indicate that urinary glucaric acid reflects hepatic metabolic function and can be used as an ...

A Comparison of Two Methods for Quantifying D-Glucaric Acid

Journal of Analytical Toxicology, 1986
The relative usefulness of two spectrophotometric methods for quantifying urinary D-glucaric acid was evaluated. The enzyme inhibition method measures the inhibition of beta-D-glucuronidase by the 1,4-glucarolactone produced from D-glucaric acid in urine by boiling at acidic pH.

HPLC Determination of d-Glucaric Acid in Human Urine

Journal of Analytical Toxicology, 1993
An isocratic HPLC method has been developed for the direct measurement of D-glucaric acid in human urine. Pretreatment of urine with a boronic acid gel removed many interfering substances, including L-ascorbic acid and D-glucuronic acid. This method has a detection limit of 10 microM D-glucaric acid (approximately 7 mumoles/g creatinine).

Urinary d-glucaric acid assay by an improved enzymatic procedure

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1974
Abstract Modifications to Marsh's procedure for measuring urinary d -glucaric acid are described, which rapidly and accurately provide optimum conditions for the assay. Using the modified technique, normal ranges for 24 h urinary output of d -glucaric acid have been established, the mean output in men being significantly higher than in women.

An enzymatic determination of d-glucaric acid by conversion to pyruvate

Analytical Biochemistry, 1985
A method was developed for determination of D-glucaric acid by treatment with a bacterial extract containing glucarate dehydratase and ketodeoxyglucarate aldolase. This led to the quantitative formation of pyruvate, which was then assayed by use of lactate dehydrogenase. Measurements of D-glucarate in individual samples of human urine by this technique

D-Glucaric Acid in Common Duct Bile and Relation to Choledocholithiasis

Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 2002
The aim was to investigate a possible association between D-glucaric acid (DGA), biliary bilirubin glucuronidation and brown pigment stones in the common bile duct.A high performance liquid chromatography method with a strong cation resin (HPX-87H) was developed for measuring biliary DGA.
