SGLT2 inhibitor therapy and lower incidence of iron deficiency anaemia in patients with type 2 diabetes: A retrospective cohort study from Germany

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 11, Page 6559-6566, November 2025.
Abstract Aims Iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) is a common comorbidity in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Sodium–glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) have been shown to modulate erythropoiesis and iron metabolism, but their association remains unclear.

A Four‐Dimensional Variational Informed Generative Adversarial Network for Data Assimilation

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 17, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract Data‐driven weather prediction (DDWP) has made significant advancements in recent years. However, weather prediction using DDWPs still requires an accurate initial field as the input. To fulfill this requirement, the four‐dimensional variational (4DVar) approach can offer initial fields.

Prevalence and lesion distribution of atopic dermatitis in small‐to‐medium breed dogs in Korea

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 36, Issue 2, Page 186-195, April 2025.
Background – Canine atopic dermatitis (cAD) varies in prevalence and lesion distribution across breeds. In contrast to Western countries, many Asian countries favour small‐to‐medium dog breeds. However, previous studies have focused primarily on medium‐to‐large dog breeds.

Engineering a robust Cas12i3 variant‐mediated wheat genome editing system

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 3, Page 860-873, March 2025.
Summary Wheat (Triticum aestivum L., 2n = 6x = 42, AABBDD) is one of the most important food crops in the world. CRISPR/Cas12i3, which belongs to the type V‐I Cas system, has attracted extensive attention recently due to its smaller protein size and its less‐restricted canonical ‘TTN’ protospacer adjacent motif (PAM).

A machine learning tool for identifying newly diagnosed heart failure in individuals with known diabetes in primary care

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 1, Page 613-621, February 2025.
Abstract Aims We aimed to create a predictive model utilizing machine learning (ML) to identify new cases of congestive heart failure (CHF) in individuals with diabetes in primary health care (PHC) through the analysis of diagnostic data. Methods We used a sex‐ and age‐matched case–control design.

Photothermal Laser Printing of Sub‐Micrometer Crystalline ZnO Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, January 27, 2025.
The first sub‐micrometer single‐crystalline ZnO semiconductor based on photothermal laser printing of a single precursor dissolved in an organic solvent without post‐processing is introduced. Various single‐crystalline 2D geometries can be printed at low laser powers making this approach interesting for printing electronic devices.

Mechanical Performance Test and Plastic Design Method Exploration of Narrow Width Steel Box Composite Beams

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
In order to study the negative stress performance of large‐span and narrow‐area steel box composite beams, a 1:4 large‐scale experimental study was conducted. The load–displacement characteristics, cross‐sectional strain distribution, and failure characteristics of the composite beams were analyzed and the model was subjected to finite element ...

Upadacitinib as salvage therapy in adolescents with acute severe ulcerative colitis refractory to conventional treatments

open access: yesJPGN Reports, Volume 5, Issue 4, Page 447-453, November 2024.
Abstract Objectives Upadacitinib (UPA), a selective Janus kinase‐1 inhibitor, has demonstrated efficacy in inducing and maintaining remission in moderate to severe ulcerative colitis (UC) in adults. Current standard management for acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) involves intravenous corticosteroids (IVCS) followed by infliximab (IFX) salvage ...
