Bulk viscosity of spin-one color superconductors
The bulk viscosity of several quark matter phases is calculated. It is found that the effect of color superconductivity is not trivial, it may suppress, or enhance the bulk viscosity depending on the critical temperature and the temperature at which the ...

Recent determinations of the total rate of the ^12 C+ ^12 C nuclear reaction show non-negligible differences with the reference reaction rate commonly used in previous stellar simulations.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

The image shows stars and galaxies from the Draco constellation. The superior image is shown without effects, the way the human eye can detect. In the inferior image, the stars and the artifacts were taken out in order to show the brightness of the first

Follow-up Observations of Candidate White Dwarf Planets with MIRI
We report on second-epoch imaging of two candidate planet-hosting white dwarf (WD) stars, WD 2105−82 and WD 1202−232. Both stars showed evidence of resolved, planet-mass candidate companions in observations using the MIRI mid-infrared imager on JWST.

A survey of pulsating DA and DB white dwarfs Observations with the Whole Earth Telescope
White dwarfs represent the end point of stellar evolution for the majority of stars. As such, they are excellent astrophysical laboratories. They are structurally simple, with electron degenerate cores surrounded by thin surface layers of helium and/or ...

Theoretical Models for Asteroseismology of DA White Dwarf Stars
Because white dwarfs are the most common end state of stellar evolution, determining their internal structure will yield many clues about the final stages of stellar evolution and the physics of matter under extreme conditions. We present the results of our parametric survey of evolutionary models of compositionally stratified white dwarfs with ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
