Axion stars in MGD background [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal C, 2023
The minimal geometric deformation (MGD) paradigm is here employed to survey axion stars on fluid branes. The finite value of the brane tension provides beyond-general relativity corrections to the density, compactness, radius, and asymptotic limit of the

Gravitational decoupling and superfluid stars [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal C, 2021
The gravitational decoupling is applied to studying minimal geometric deformed (MGD) compact superfluid stars, in covariant logarithmic scalar gravity on fluid branes.

Thirty‐Five New Pulsating DA White Dwarf Stars [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2004
We present 35 new pulsating DA (hydrogen atmosphere) white dwarf stars discovered from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and the Hamburg Quasar Survey (HQS). We have acquired high-speed time series photometry of preselected DA white dwarfs with a prime focus CCD photometer on the 2.1 m telescope at McDonald Observatory over 15 months.

The fault in our stars: do trágico ao consagrado - ressignificações da morte na narrativa de John Green

open access: yesBabel, 2015
O presente artigo busca tratar das representações da morte e suas aplicações na obra de John Green intitulada The Fault In Our Stars (2012), com o objetivo de problematizar a ideia maniqueísta ocidental que se tem do assunto.

Proto-strange quark stars from density-dependent quark mass model [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal C, 2023
In this paper, we investigate the evolution of strange quark stars (SQS) from birth as proto-strange quark stars to maturity as stable SQSs at a zero temperature.

Hybrid stars built with density dependent models [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2023
Using a density dependent quark model and a relativistic model within the mean-field approximation for hadrons with density dependent meson-baryon couplings, we construct, for the first time, models that describe hybrid neutron stars consisting of ...

Catalog of Magnetic White Dwarfs with Hydrogen Dominated Atmospheres

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
White dwarfs are excellent research laboratories as they reach temperatures, pressures, and magnetic fields that are unattainable on Earth. To better understand how these three physical parameters interact with each other and with other stellar features,

On the Spectral Evolution of Hot White Dwarf Stars. I. A Detailed Model Atmosphere Analysis of Hot White Dwarfs from SDSS DR12 [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2020
As they evolve, white dwarfs undergo major changes in surface composition, a phenomenon known as spectral evolution. In particular, some stars enter the cooling sequence with helium atmospheres (type DO) but eventually develop hydrogen atmospheres (type ...

On the Spectral Evolution of Hot White Dwarf Stars. II. Time-dependent Simulations of Element Transport in Evolving White Dwarfs with STELUM [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2021
White dwarf stars are subject to various element transport mechanisms that can cause their surface composition to change radically as they cool, a phenomenon known as spectral evolution.

Gravitational decoupling of generalized Horndeski hybrid stars [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal C, 2021
Gravitational decoupled compact polytropic hybrid stars are here addressed in generalized Horndeski scalar-tensor gravity. Additional physical properties of hybrid stars are scrutinized and discussed in the gravitational decoupling setup.
