Why and When Are Evidence‐Based Interventions Adopted in Paediatric Supportive Care? A Qualitative Exploration of the Determinants of Photobiomodulation Implementation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Oral mucositis is a common and debilitating side effect of childhood cancer and stem cell transplant treatments. It affects the quality of life of children and young people (CYP) and places a strain on services. Photobiomodulation is recommended for oral mucositis prevention in international guidance but is poorly implemented in UK ...

Spectroscopic Characterization of WD J000801.25-350450 and Its Two Comoving Companions

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We present new spectroscopic data for Gaia DR3 2309499817384726016 (WD 0008-350A) and its two wide, comoving, low-mass companions. We confirm the white dwarf is a hydrogen rich DA, with T _eff = 6200 ± 90 K and a mass of 0.63 ± 0.03 M _⊙ , close to that ...

Identification of blue high proper motion objects in the Tycho-2 and 2MASS catalogues using Virtual Observatory tools

open access: yes, 2010
With available Virtual Observatory tools, we looked for new bright blue high proper motion objects in the entire sky: white dwarfs, hot subdwarfs, runaway OB stars, and early-type stars in nearby young moving groups.

Real‐World Pediatric Blinatumomab Administration: Access to Outpatient Care Delivery and Impact of a Hospital‐Dispensed Model

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Blinatumomab has been shown to be highly effective for patients with pediatric B‐ALL and has recently become standard of care therapy. Due to its past use in the clinical trial setting, there is limited information available about real‐world administration.

Double White Dwarf Binaries in SDSS-V DR19: The Discovery of a Rare DA+DQ White Dwarf Binary with a 31 hr Orbital Period

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Binaries of two white dwarfs (WDs) are an important class of astrophysical objects that help us reconstruct the complex processes involved in stellar evolution and are theorized to lead to Type Ia supernovae.

Hydrogen Line Shape Uncertainties in White Dwarf Model Atmospheres

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2022
For isolated white dwarf (WD) stars, fits to their observed spectra provide the most precise estimates of their effective temperatures and surface gravities.

7Li in Metal-Poor Stars: The Spread of the Li Plateau [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A highly homogeneous study of 23 halo field dwarf stars has achieved a Li abundance accuracy of 0.033 dex per star. The work shows that the intrinsic spread of the Li abundances of these stars at a given metallicity is

Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.

Measuring the Mass–Radius Relation of White Dwarfs Using Wide Binaries

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Measuring the mass–radius relation of individual white dwarfs is an empirically challenging task that has been performed for only a few dozen stars. We measure the white dwarf mass–radius relation using the gravitational redshifts and radii of 135 white ...

The Stellar Space Distributions of dA and gK Stars [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1995
AbstractWe present a case study on the stellar space distribution of stars with MK spectral types B8 to A2 (dA) and gG8 to gK2 (gK) in a sky region of 25 square degrees, centred at the galactic coordinate l = 4° and b = +12°. Two hundred and forty-eight (248) stars with MK type of B8–A2 and gG8–gK2 were identified in this field.
