Dactylogyrus spp. (Monogenea, Dactylogyridae) from the Gills of Enteromius spp. (Cypriniformes, Cyprinidae) from the Limpopo Province, South Africa with Descriptions of Three New Species

open access: yesActa Parasitologica, 2020
Background Monogenean parasites of the genus Dactylogyrus Diesing, 1850 parasitize mostly gills of cyprinoids hosts. Of 100 species currently known from African continent, approximately 35 have been described from Enteromius spp.

MOLECULAR PHYLOGENY OF CONGENERIC MONOGENEAN PARASITES (DACTYLOGYRUS): A CASE OF INTRAHOST SPECIATION [PDF]

open access: yesEvolution; International Journal of Organic Evolution, 2004
Dactylogyrus species (Dactylogyridae: Monogenea) are a group of monogenean gill parasites that are highly specific to freshwater fish of the family Cyprinidae. Dactylogyrus species were sampled from 19 cyprinids and one percid collected in Europe. Using partial 18S rDNA and ITS1 sequences, a phylogeny of 51 Dactylogyrus species was reconstructed to ...

Complete mitochondrial genomes of Dactylogyrus crucifer and Dactylogyrus zandti reveal distinct patterns of codon usage within Dactylogyrus

Gene
Monogeneans of the genus Dactylogyrus Diesing, 1850, the largest genus in the family Dactylogyridae, mostly parasitize the gills of cyprinoid hosts; however, only 3 Dactylogyrus' mitochondrial genomes (mitogenomes) are studied so far. The aim of this research is to extend our understanding of the mitogenomes of Dactylogyrus.

Studies on Monogenetic Trematodes. XVII. The Genus Dactylogyrus

American Midland Naturalist, 1955
The genus Gyrodactylu3 von Nordmani, 1832, included all described species of Dactylogyrus prior to 1850 when Diesin;g established the latter taxonomic category. Validity of this separation was confirmed by Bychowsky when he erected the subfamily Dactylogyrinae in 1933(a). The first mention of Dactylogyrus in North America was that of Hess (1928) who re

Synthesis and anthelmintic activity of arctigenin derivatives against Dactylogyrus intermedius in goldfish

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2017
To control the parasitic disease of Dactylogyrus intermedius, a series of new arctigenin derivatives were designed, synthesized and tested in our study. The anthelmintic activity of most of the derivatives ranged from 1 to 10mg/L. Compared to traditional drug praziquantel (EC50=2.69mg/L), ether derivatives 2g and 2h exhibited slightly higher anti ...

[Behavior of monogenea of the genus Dactylogyrus under extreme temperatures].

Parazitologiia, 2009
Behavior of monogeneans of the genus Dactylogyrus under low (2-5 degrees C) and high (28-34 degrees C) temperatures was studied. It is established, that under extreme conditions movements of monogeneans and egg laying become more intensive. After the last egg is laid, the parasites become motionless, their bodies shrink and shorten.
