Rice Coconut Yogurt: Insights Into Physicochemical Properties, Microbial Stability, and Consumer Acceptance as a Plant‐Based Alternative

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study demonstrates that rice and coconut milk can serve as effective bases for nutrient‐rich, plant‐based yogurts with properties similar to those of dairy yogurt. Coconut milk yogurt exhibited superior stability and acidity, while rice milk yogurt offered high consumer acceptability.

Changing dynamic phosphorus forms from field to stream during surface runoff events

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Quality, Volume 55, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract The risk of water quality impairment from agricultural runoff depends on nutrient source, transport, and bioavailability. Phosphorus (P) spirals between dissolved and particulate forms as it is transported with suspended sediment (SS) from agricultural fields, through the stream network, to receiving water bodies.

Assessing the topographic distribution of legacy soil phosphorus in agricultural fields of the Delmarva Peninsula, Mid‐Atlantic Coastal Plain, USA

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Quality, Volume 55, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract Phosphorus (P) management remains a challenge in agricultural watersheds. The Choptank River Conservation Effects Assessment Project watershed, located in Maryland and Delaware and draining to the Chesapeake Bay, contains legacy soil P from historical dairy and poultry manure applications.

Methane emissions reduced using gypsum in pilot‐scale dairy manure tanks

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Quality, Volume 55, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract Animal manure storage facilities are sources of greenhouse gas emissions in Canada, with the majority of emissions in the form of methane and nitrous oxide. This study was conducted to assess how effective adding gypsum powder to cow manure is at reducing the emissions of methane and nitrous oxide.
