Tracing the Dairy Goat Industry: Profiling of Dairy Goat Farms in the Philippines

CLSU International Journal of Education and Development Studies, 2020
The Philippine dairy goat industry remains a developing sector with fragmented data and information. Thus, a concerted effort to create baseline information on these dairy goat farms (DGF) is needed to situate technology interventions and consequently, improve dairy goat production.

Psoroptic Ear Mites in Dairy Goats

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1978
SUMMARY Of 24 adult dairy goats examined at necropsy, 21 were found to be infested with ear mites (Psoroptes cuniculi), but none had gross signs of ear scab. Clinical examination of approximately 200 live adult goats on 23 farms revealed ear scabs in only one animal; however, the frequency of head shaking and ear scratching was high.

Dairy goat production systems

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2012
Goat production concentrated in developing countries (tropics, dry areas), contributes largely to the livelihoods of low and medium income farmers. Farming systems in these areas have evolved to cope with the formidable constraints imposed by harsh natural and economic conditions by adapting integrated crop/livestock production strategies.

Incidence of hydrometra in dairy goats

Veterinary Record, 1993
Hydrometra or pseudopregnancy is characterised by the accumulation of aseptic fluid within the uterus and a persistent corpus luteum. In goats the diagnosis can be easily made by ultrasound. The incidence of hydrometra was investigated in three herds of dairy goats, in two of them during one oestrous season and in the other over three years.
