Genotoxicity assessment of piperitenone oxide: an in vitro and in silico evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Piperitenone oxide, a natural flavouring agent also known as rotundifolone, has been studied for the genotoxicity assessment by an integrated in vitro and in silico experimental approach, including the bacterial reverse mutation assay, the micronucleus ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Assessing Feeding Damage from Two Leaffooted Bugs, Leptoglossus clypealis Heidemann and Leptoglossus zonatus (Dallas) (Hemiptera: Coreidae), on Four Almond Varieties. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Leaffooted bugs (Leptoglossus spp; Hemiptera: Coreidae) are phytophagous insects native to the Western Hemisphere. In California, Leptoglossus clypealis and Leptoglossus zonatus are occasional pests on almonds. Early season feeding by L. clypealis and L.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Automatic Removal of Non-Architectural Elements in 3D Models of Historic Buildings with Language Embedded Radiance Fields

open access: yesHeritage
Neural radiance fields have emerged as a dominant paradigm for creating complex 3D environments incorporating synthetic novel views. However, 3D object removal applications utilizing neural radiance fields have lagged behind in effectiveness ...

Methodology for Landslide Damage Assessment

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2016
AbstractThis article focuses on an original methodology for landslide damage assessment of either masonry or reinforced concrete ordinary buildings at the urban scale. In the first step of the methodology, an analysis of the crack patterns is quickly performed for all the buildings by means of the Load Path Method [1].

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Image-Based Hidden Damage Detection Method: Combining Stereo Digital Image Correlation and Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesSensors
Maintenance and damage detection of structures are crucial for ensuring their safe usage and longevity. However, damage hidden beneath the surface can easily go unnoticed during inspection and assessment processes.

Experimental study on lateral displacement measurement using air-coupled ultrasound transducers

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2014
We propose a novel measurement method for directly measuring the lateral displacement of structures by using air-coupled ultrasound transducers. The normally-distributed far field of an ultrasound transducer in a lateral direction is taken advantage of ...
