A New Damage Index for Isolated Structures

International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics, 2019
Damage indices based on structural dynamic characteristics are often used to detect damage in the structures. In this study, a new index for identifying damages in base-isolated structures is proposed using the frequency response function (FRF).

A Heat Flux Damages-Related Index

ASME 2006 Internal Combustion Engine Division Spring Technical Conference (ICES2006), 2006
Gasoline engines can be affected, under certain operating conditions, by excessive heat flux through the combustion chamber walls, which can result in serious engine damage. Specific power and efficiency are influenced by factors such as compression ratio and spark advance regulation, that modify the combustion development over the crank angle: the ...

A New Damage Index

Natural Hazards, 2003
A new damage index to estimate damage to buildings relies on construction costs per square metre, and a replacement ratio which approximates costs relative to the cost of replacing a median-sized family home. Building damage is estimated against a five-point scale with Central Damage Values at 0.02, 0.1, 0.4, 0.75 and 1.0 of the replacement cost ...

Damage accrual in Behçet disease: Behçet's Syndrome Overall Damage Index (BODI) versus Behçet's Disease Damage Index (BDI)

International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases, 2023
AbstractObjectivesTo assess the validity of Behçet's Syndrome Overall Damage Index (BODI) and Behçet's Disease Damage Index (BDI) as tools for the detection of damage accrual in Behçet's patients compared to Vasculitis Damage Index (VDI). Also, to evaluate the correlation and the interclass correlation among the 3 indices to find out their consistency ...

The intelligence quotient as an index of brain damage.

American Journal of Orthopsychiatry, 1964
WAIS IQ estimates and single subtest scores were used to differentiate controls from brain-damaged patients. Optimal cutting scores were obtained using ages and educational classifications. Certain subtests discriminated as effectively as did the IQ scores.

The Damaged Index Digit

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1968
1. When the index finger is irreversibly damaged or amputated, simple removal of the index metacarpal enhances function of the hand by elimination of an obstruction in the web space between the thumb and long finger.2.

Developing a hurricane damage index

2010
Accurate information on damage caused by landfalling hurricanes benefits decision making and response of groups such as emergency managers and insurance companies. Estimates of potential damage made in advance of landfall using readily available storm information would provide useful guidance for preparations and rapid response.

Validation of a radiographic damage index in chronic gout

Arthritis Care & Research, 2007
AbstractObjectiveTo identify a valid method to measure radiographic damage in patients with chronic gout.MethodsThe scoring method that best represented radiographic damage in individual joints was analyzed by comparing a gold standard rheumatologist consensus global score with recognized scoring methods, including the Sharp/van der Heijde erosion and ...

Enzymuria as an index of renal damage in canine leishmaniasis

Veterinary Record, 1997
Urinary enzyme activities of alanine aminopeptidase, gammaglutamyl transpeptidase, alkaline phosphatase, N‐acetyl‐β‐D‐glucosaminidase and β‐glucuronidase were determined in 15 dogs with leishmaniasis and in a group of eight normal dogs. Serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen concentrations were also measured and renal histology was examined.

Stylus damage prevention index

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2000
Stylus methods for measuring surfaces have sometimes been blamed for causing damage to the surface because of the stylus pressure. This paper investigates this possibility and develops a ‘potential damage index’ which takes into account the instrument parameters, static and dynamic, and surface parameters.
