Sensitivity analysis of the probabilistic damage stability regulations for RoPax vessels

open access: yes, 2008
In the light of the newly developed harmonised probabilistic damage stability regulations, set to come into force in 2009, this article presents a systematic and thorough analysis of the sensitivity of the Attained Subdivision Index with reference to a ...

A new mechanical structural damage feature index based on HHT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A new damage feature index is presented for the structural health monitoring based on Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT). The energy marginal spectrum of the dynamic signal is used to construct damage characteristic parameter, which can reflect the signal ...

Prognostic Factors at Diagnosis Associated With Damage Accrual in Childhood-Onset Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics, 2022
ObjectivesTo associate prognostic factors present at diagnosis with damage accrual in childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE) patients.MethodsWe designed a cohort study of eligible children age 16 or younger who fulfilled the 1997 American ...

Seismic Damage Estimation Index for Service Lines

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Electronics, Information and Systems, 2011
AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to propose a new index for the seismic damage estimation of service lines. The proposed index is based on the tension of each service line due to an earthquake event. Because the tension is evaluated using not only the seismic intensity, but also the dynamic properties of the major components of the distribution ...

The Sjogren's Syndrome Damage Index--a damage index for use in clinical trials and observational studies in primary Sjogren's syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesRheumatology, 2008
To validate a tool for assessment of accumulated damage in patients with Primary SS (PSS).Of the total 114 patients fulfilling American-European Consensus Group (AECG) criteria for PSS 104 were included in the study and assessed by rheumatologists at T (time) = 0 months and T = 12 months.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Nonuniform Temperature Compensation in Ultrasonic Guided Wave Pipeline Health Monitoring Using Local Phase Matching

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Faced with a complex working environment, pipelines are prone to nonuniform temperature variations, which cause nonuniform phase changes in the guided wave signals during structural health monitoring, thereby increasing the difficulty of monitoring.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...
