Damage Spreading in the Ising Model

open access: yes, 1997
We present two new results regarding damage spreading in ferromagnetic Ising models. First, we show that a damage spreading transition can occur in an Ising chain that evolves in contact with a thermal reservoir.

Coupled plastic-damaged model [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 1996
A constitutive model that couples plasticity and damage is presented. The model is thermodynamically consistent and comes from a generalization of classical plasticity theory and isotropic damage theory of Kachanov. Coupling between plasticity and damage is achieved through a simultaneous solution of the plastic and the damage problem.

Progressive Damage Modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The application of bonded joints is increasing due to their several advantages to alternative bonding methods. As a result, more efficient predictive tools are necessary to increase the confidence of designers. In this context, cohesive and continuum damage models acquire special relevancy owing to their capacity to simulate damage onset and growth ...

Damage-cluster distributions and size effect on strength in compressive failure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate compressive failure of heterogeneous materials on the basis of a continuous progressive damage model. The model explicitely accounts for tensile and shear local damage and reproduces the main features of compressive failure of brittle ...

Study on damage deterioration law of slate under the action of freeze-thaw cycle

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan
Aiming at the problem of damage and deterioration of slate on the slopes of open-pit mines in cold regions under freeze-thaw conditions, various types of slate samples from a typical open-pit mine in Inner Mongolia were subjected to laboratory tests ...

A Novel Damage Model to Predict Ductile Fracture Behavior for Anisotropic Sheet Metal

open access: yesMetals, 2019
The purpose of the present work is to investigate the fracture behavior of anisotropic sheet metal under various stress states. Notched tension and flat-grooved tension tests at 0°, 45°, and 90° directions with respect to rolling direction

Study on Fatigue Damage Characteristics of Sandstone with Different Inclination Angles Under Freeze–Thaw Cycle Conditions

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Fractured rock masses in cold regions are subject to long-term seasonal freeze–thaw cycles. To investigate the fatigue damage characteristics of sandstone with different fracture inclinations under freeze–thaw cycling conditions, samples containing ...

Damage test and model study of soft and hard interbedded rock based on piezoelectric ceramics and DIC

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2023
In order to explore the damage evolution law of soft and hard interbedded rock after failure, three groups of rock-like test blocks (soft rock, interbedded rock and hard rock) were made by using the similar model theory.
