Development of an Expert System for Designing of Automobile Dampers

2011 Fourth International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering & Technology, 2011
In the present work an expert system has been developed for designing of dampers. This expert system takes inputs from user and it will calculate all dimensions, area of free mass, maximum heat dissipation, and the ratio of maximum heat dissipation to area of free mass. Then expert system will select most suitable damper and generates a script file and

A Method for the Design of Ring Dampers for Gears in Aeronautical Applications

Journal of Mechanical Design, 2010
In order to reduce the resonant vibration of thin walled gears used for aeronautical applications, friction ring dampers may be added to the gear. In order to design the damper geometry, engineers must be able to evaluate its effect on the dynamics of the gear.

Theory and Design of Pendulum Dampers

2012
There is sometimes a need to damp the camshaft torques described in Chap. 9. The reactive pendulum damper described below has been described in the literature. In the past it was used to damp the torsional vibrations of crankshafts used in both automotive and aero engines, which had long crankshafts that lacked torsional stiffness.

Design and Analysis of Nonlinear Viscoelastic Damper

ASME-JSME-KSME 2011 Joint Fluids Engineering Conference: Volume 1, Symposia – Parts A, B, C, and D, 2011
A custom-made nonlinear viscoelastic damper is designed for several industrial applications. The damper is structurally similar to typical commercial dampers and the design is solely based on the choice of the viscoelastic material used as damping agent in the damper.

Design of Supplemental Dampers for Control of Structures

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1996
A suggested method for design of supplemental dampers in multistory structures is presented. Optimal control theory using a linear quadratic regulator (LQR) is adapted to design linear passive viscous or viscoelastic devices dependent on their deformation and velocity (best represented by Kelvin model).

Design of an Active Smart Damper for Vibration Suppression

Volume 3: Engineering Systems; Heat Transfer and Thermal Engineering; Materials and Tribology; Mechatronics; Robotics, 2014
The work deals with the design of an active smart damper based on a proof-mass actuator to suppress vibration in structures. The device is stand-alone and does not requires any additional real-time board to perform the control or sensors to obtain feedback signals as it mounts on board all the electronics needed to carried out this task.

Design of a linear Halbach magnetic damper

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2019
Ultra-fast circuit breakers are operated with fast electromagnetic actuators. They can generate a sufficient impulse force to swiftly open electrical contacts in a couple of milliseconds. Opening of the contacts with high velocities implies a need for a timely and controllable damping.

Design procedure for an Active Resonance Damper

IECON 2010 - 36th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2010
This work presents a detailed design and control procedure for an Active Resonance Damper. This kind of equipment must act as a harmonic impedance in order to damp harmonic propagation throughout a distribution feeder. This harmonic resistance must be equal to the characteristic impedance of the distribution feeder in order to achieve optimized ...

Design and Analysis of a Superelastic SMA Damper

Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, 2007
Based on the superelasticity of shape memory alloy (SMA), a superelastic SMA damper is designed, and its analytical model has been established and verified by experimental results. Numerical simulation is carried out to investigate the effects of the damper's parameters on its behaviors, such as groove depth, SMA wire amount, and friction coefficient ...
