Research on the Influence of the Mounting Configuration on the Elastic Characteristics and Energy Dissipation Capacity of Multi-Leaf Springs for Truck Vehicles

open access: yesEnergies
This paper presents selected results of experimental tests on multi-leaf springs used in the dependent suspensions of trucks. The main objective of this research was to determine the dissipation energy in the actual spring structure for various methods ...

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

Thermal effects in a mechanical model for pseudoelastic behavior of NiTi wires

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2007
A mechanical model for pseudoelastic behavior of NiTi wires is proposed with the aim to predict the behavior of Shape Memory Alloys(SMA) damping wire elements in model structures. We have considered at first a simple linearwise stress-strain relationship

Dependence of Nonlinear Response and Magnon Scattering on Damping

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Microwaves, 2021
A previous theoretical model of 3-magnon scattering is connected to experimentally measured characteristics, such as the damping constant α and the power threshold, through a realistic micromagnetic simulation.

Non-local Gilbert damping tensor within the torque-torque correlation model

open access: yes, 2017
An essential property of magnetic devices is the relaxation rate in magnetic switching which depends strongly on the damping in the magnetisation dynamics.

Effect of damping on the time variation of fields produced by a small pole tip with a soft under layer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The time variation of magnetostatic fields generated by space and time varying magnetization configurations in small perpendicular pole tips is studied.

Enabling Digital Continuity in Virtual Manufacturing for Eco‐Efficiency Assessment of Lightweight Structures by Means of a Domain‐Specific Structural Mechanics Language: Requirements, Idea and Proof of Concept

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a solver‐agnostic domain‐specific language (DSL) for computational structural mechanics that strengthens interoperability in virtual product development. Using a hierarchical data model, the DSL enables seamless exchange between diverse simulation tools and numerical methods.

Zero/low overshoot conditions based on maximally‐flatness for PID‐type controller design for uncertain systems with time‐delay or zeros

open access: yesIET Control Theory & Applications
This paper extends the characteristic ratio approach using novel inequalities to ensure zero/low overshoot for linear‐time‐invariant systems with zeros.

Enhancing the Viscoelastic Performance of Carbon Fiber Composites by Incorporating CNTs and ZnO Nanofillers

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Carbon fiber reinforced plastic composites (CFRPs) possess superior elastic mechanical properties. However, CFRPs lack sufficient viscoelastic performance, such as damping and creep resistance.

Hysteretic Energy Demands in Multi-Degree-of-Freedom Systems Subjected to Earthquakes

open access: yesBuildings, 2020
Reliable estimation of energy demands imposed on a structure by a design ground motion is a key component of energy-based design. Although several studies have been conducted to quantify the energy demands in single-degree-of-freedoms systems, few have ...
