Control of the damping in mechanical structures

Russian Engineering Research, 2013
In the development and refinement of machines, the time and effort required in creating structures with the required strength and performance, on the basis of economical consumption of materials, must be mini mized. Diagnostic methods permit the identification and assessment of weak points in the structure and the causes of its failure, so that design

A Robust Roll Damping Controller

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1997
Abstract The effectiveness of rudder roll damping is sensitive to ship dynamic parameters. A recent model of a containership in waves include a non-linear model and wave response operators. The vessel is sensitive in roll and has a low metacentric height, with a long natural roll period of 25 s.

Uniform damping control of spacecraft

Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 1986
This paper introduces the uniform damping control of flexible spacecraft. The dynamic characteristics of spacecraft are reviewed and a criterion for dynamic performance is described by a uniform damping control approach which exhibits three distinctly attractive features.

Active Control for Vibration Damping

1988
Active control laws are developed for an LSS-type structure to damp vibrations. High frequency modelling uncertainties lead to the necessity for a robust control design. The Linear Quadratic Gaussian with Loop Transfer Recovery (LQG/LTR) control design technique is a particular robust design technique selected for use in designing a damping control ...
