Viscoelastic damping design – Thermal impact on a constrained layer damping treatment

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2021
Constrained layer damping treatments have been commonly used for vibration damping. The included viscoelastic material exhibits high damping potential that is retrieved under shear deformation.

Impacts of PU Foam Stand-Off Layer on the Vibration Damping Performance of Stand-Off Free Layer Damping Cantilever Beams

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2020
Stand-off free layer damping is a vibration reduction method based on the traditional free layer damping. In this paper, a stand-off free layer damping cantilever beam is prepared with the steel plate as the base layer, rigid polyurethane (PU) foam as ...

Damping of Oscillations in Layer-by-Layer Growth [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 1997
We present a theory for the damping of layer-by-layer growth oscillations in molecular beam epitaxy. The surface becomes rough on distances larger than a layer coherence length which is substantially larger than the diffusion length. The damping time can be calculated by a comparison of the competing roughening and smoothening mechanisms.

Research on damping performance of elastomer/carbon fiber epoxy composite

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2022
The preparation method of the composite material with damping layer and the influence of the position of the single-layer damping layer in the composite material on the damping coefficient have not been studied in detail. In this paper, the most commonly
