Some geotechnical properties and damping ratio of clay nanocomposites

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Research, 2019
Natural clays soils are commonly used in dams, landfills, nuclear plants, etc. as an impermeable component or protecting liner. However, there could be permanent damage in structural elements due to the problems such as swelling, settlement, and heaving of these soils because of varieties in water contents over time.

Modulating Electrochemical CO2 Reduction Pathways via Interfacial Electric Field

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Engineering interfacial electric fields in Cu/ITO electrodes enables precise control of CO2 reduction pathways. Charge transfer from Cu to ITO generates positively charged Cu species that steer selectivity from ethylene toward methane. This work demonstrates how interfacial electric‐field modulation can direct reaction intermediates and transform ...

Critical damping characteristics of a SDOF system with fractional derivative of a wide range of order

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
In this study, vibration characteristics of a single-degree-of-freedom linear oscillator with the fractional order derivative are examined in terms of the critical damping over a wide range of the order of the fractional derivative by using numerical ...

Direct Evidence of Topological Dirac Fermions in a Low Carrier Density Correlated 5d Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The 5d oxide BiRe2O6 is discovered as a low‐carrier‐density topological semimetal hosting symmetry‐protected Dirac fermions stabilized by nonsymmorphic symmetries. Angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy, quantum oscillations, and magnetotransport measurements reveal gapless Dirac cones, quasi‐2D Fermi surfaces, high carrier mobility, and a field ...

Damping Identification of Bridges Under Nonstationary Ambient Vibration

open access: yesEngineering, 2017
This research focuses on identifying the damping ratio of bridges using nonstationary ambient vibration data. The damping ratios of bridges in service have generally been identified using operational modal analysis (OMA) based on a stationary white noise

Miniature Nanomesh Mechano‐Acoustic Sensor with Wide Linear Dynamic Range, Broad Bandwidth, and Flat Frequency Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A miniaturized mechano‐acoustic sensor is developed using an electrospun PVDF nanomesh as the diaphragm in a capacitive sensor structure. Unlike conventional nanomesh‐based sensors, it achieves high linear sensitivity, a broad and flat frequency response, and a compact form factor.

Damping effects of a stay cable attached with a viscous damper and a high damping rubber damper considering cable bending stiffness and damper support flexibility

open access: yesAdvances in Bridge Engineering
To mitigate cable oscillations in cable-stayed bridges, a common approach involves using a strategically positioned viscous damper near the cable’s anchorage and bridge deck. However, for longer cables, this method may be insufficient due to installation

Calculation of Damping Ratio and Analysis of Damping Effect of Turbine Blade Dry Friction Damper in Rotating State

open access: yesAerospace
The vibration of turbine blades during the operation of jet engines is a serious and complex issue that has garnered significant attention. In practical jet engines, dry friction damping is commonly used to suppress blade vibrations due to its ...
