Plasmon‐Enhanced Second‐Harmonic Generation in Atomically Thin Crystalline Silver Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Atomically thin crystalline silver films combine vertical quantum confinement with lateral plasmonic field enhancement to boost second‐harmonic generation. Nanoribbon and nanotriangle arrays enable geometry‐tunable infrared plasmon resonances, producing strong SHG from deeply subwavelength metallic volumes compatible with silicon‐based nanophotonics ...

1T‐to‐2H Phase Evolution During Epitaxial Growth of Transition Metal Dichalcogenides

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
During MOCVD growth of MoS2 and WSe2, a transient metallic 1T phase emerges in early, edge‐rich, chalcogen‐deficient domains and declines as the films ultimately coalesce as 2H material. Together, experiments and ReaxFF simulations link domain size, edge stoichiometry, and vacancies to this evolution.

Surface-wave damping in a brimful circular cylinder [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The natural frequencies and damping rates of surface waves in a circular cylinder with pinned-end boundary conditions are calculated in terms of the gravitational Reynolds and Bond numbers, C[minus sign]1 and B, and the slenderness of the cylinder ...

A Retinal Matrix Stiffening Model Reveals FAK‐Dependent Mechanotransduction in Pericytes Underlies Vascular Destabilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we show that retinal matrix stiffness is increased in diabetic mice. Using engineered human vascular models with controlled matrix stiffness, we demonstrate that stiffening activates focal adhesion kinase (FAK) signaling in pericytes, suppresses Notch signaling, and disrupts vascular morphology.

Oscillation of second-order nonlinear differential equations with a damping term

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2005
This paper concerns the oscillation of solutions to the differential equation $$ (r(t) x'(t))'+ p(t) x'(t) + q(t) g( x(t) ) =0, $$ where $xg(x)$ greater than 0 for all $x eq 0$, $r(t)$ greater than 0 for $tgeq t_{0}$ greater than 0.

Life‐Like Ferrous Oxide Microspheres from Kombucha

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Kombucha bacterial cellulose, sodium alginate, and ferrous nitrate self‐assemble into membrane‐enclosed iron oxide microspheres. These microspheres bud daughter vesicles, sustain 24‐h electrochemical oscillations, and filter theta‐band signals.

A sufficient condition for finite-time blow-up of the coupled viscoelastic wave equations with arbitrary positive initial energy

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications
This paper aims to investigate the blow-up characteristics of solutions to a system of coupled viscoelastic wave equations, where the strong damping term, the dispersive term, linear weak damping term, and coupled source term are taken into account.
