Danazol and Oral Anticoagulants

Scottish Medical Journal, 1982
A case report of overt bleeding in a young woman on warfarin given the anabolic steroid danazol for menorrhagia is reported. This interaction appears to be poorly recognised and we suggest that when commencing such a treatment the dose of anticoagulant should initially be halved and thereafter tailored to the thrombotest.

Impact of polymers on the precipitation behavior of highly supersaturated aqueous danazol solutions.

Molecular Pharmaceutics, 2014
The phase behavior of supersaturated solutions of a relatively hydrophobic drug, danazol, was studied in the absence and presence of polymeric additives.

Levels of androgens and danazol metabolites in serum during danazol therapy

Fertility and Sterility, 1993
Thirteen women who had endometriosis were treated with danazol (300 to 400 mg/d). Levels of androgens and danazol metabolites in serum and the influences of danazol metabolites on the assays for serum androgen were investigated during danazol therapy. Serum DHEAS significantly increased (P < 0.05), but serum DHEA slightly decreased.

An in vitro digestion test that reflects rat intestinal conditions to probe the importance of formulation digestion vs first pass metabolism in Danazol bioavailability from lipid based formulations.

Molecular Pharmaceutics, 2014
The impact of gastrointestinal (GI) processing and first pass metabolism on danazol oral bioavailability (BA) was evaluated after administration of self-emulsifying drug delivery systems (SEDDS) in the rat.

Final Analysis of a Multicenter Pilot Phase 2 Study of Ruxolitinib and Danazol in Patients with Myelofibrosis

, 2015
Introduction: Most myelofibrosis (MF) patients develop anemia during evolution of the disease process predicting decreased survival. Previous studies exploring the effect of danazol for the treatment of anemia in MF demonstrate responses in anemia.

Danazol treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes

British Journal of Haematology, 2008
Peripheral cytopenias are common in patients with myelodysplastic syndromes. We previously successfully treated three such patients with improvement of some cytopenias with the impeded androgen danazol. To confirm this finding and elucidate the mechanism of response, we treated an additional 22 patients with myelodysplasia with oral danazol (600-800 mg

Evaluation of selected angiogenic and inflammatory markers in endometriosis before and after danazol treatment.

Reproduction, Fertility and Development, 2014
Angiogenesis and inflammation are pivotal processes in developing endometriosis in the peritoneal cavity. The aim of the present study was to evaluate these two processes in women with endometriosis who had been treated with danazol to determine the ...
