Melanophore migration and survival during zebrafish adult pigment stripe development require the immunoglobulin superfamily adhesion molecule Igsf11. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The zebrafish adult pigment pattern has emerged as a useful model for understanding the development and evolution of adult form as well as pattern-forming mechanisms more generally.

Heterozygous Med13l mice recapitulate a developmental growth delay and craniofacial anomalies seen in MED13L syndrome

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Gene transcription is crucial for embryo and postnatal development and is regulated by the Mediator complex. Mediator is comprised of four submodules, including the kinase submodule (CKM). The CKM consists of MED13, MED12, CDK8, and CCNC.

Efficacy of Chitosan as Pb Remover and its Effect on Zebrafish (Danio rerio) Embryo Development

open access: yesJurnal Akuakultur Indonesia, 2007
Chitosan is a by-product from crustacean carapas. Chitosan has a cationic  polyelectrolyte activity, hence it can be used as remover of heavy metal from polluted water.

Copper-containing mesoporous bioactive glass promotes angiogenesis in an in vivo zebrafish model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The osteogenic and angiogenic responses of organisms to the ionic products of degradation of bioactive glasses (BGs) are being intensively investigated. The promotion of angiogenesis by copper (Cu) has been known for more than three decades. This element

The genome sequence of the Orange-finned Danio, Danio kyathit Fang, 1998

open access: yesWellcome Open Research
We present a chromosome-level genome assembly from an individual female Danio kyathit (the Orange-finned Danio; Chordata; Actinopteri; Cypriniformes; Cyprinidae). The genome sequence is 1,708.4 megabases in span. Most of the assembly (95.66%) is scaffolded into 25 chromosomal pseudomolecules.

Development of a Zebrafish Embryo‐Based Test System for Thyroid Hormone System Disruption: 3Rs in Ecotoxicological Research

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology and Chemistry, EarlyView.
Abstract There is increasing concern regarding pollutants disrupting the vertebrate thyroid hormone (TH) system, which is crucial for development. Thus, identification of TH system–disrupting chemicals (THSDCs) is an important requirement in the Organisation for Economic Co‐operation and Development (OECD) testing framework.

Characterization of DNA methylation as a function of biological complexity via dinucleotide inter-distances

open access: yes, 2015
We perform a statistical study of the distances between successive occurrencies of a given dinucleotide in the DNA sequence for a number of organisms of different complexity.

BPA-Induced Deregulation of Epigenetic Patterns: Effects on Female Zebrafish Reproduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Bisphenol A (BPA) is one of the commonest Endocrine Disruptor Compounds worldwide. It interferes with vertebrate reproduction, possibly by inducing deregulation of epigenetic mechanisms.

Chromatin accessibility is associated with CRISPR-Cas9 efficiency in the zebrafish (Danio rerio)

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
CRISPR-Cas9 technology is routinely applied for targeted mutagenesis in model organisms and cell lines. Recent studies indicate that the prokaryotic CRISPR-Cas9 system is affected by eukaryotic chromatin structures.
