Haematopoiesis in Zebrafish (Danio Rerio)

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
Haematopoiesis in fish and mammals is a complex process, and many aspects regarding its model and the differentiation of haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) still remain enigmatic despite advanced studies.

Autism and mild epilepsy associated with a de novo missense pathogenic variant in the GTPase effector domain of DNM1

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part C: Seminars in Medical Genetics, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Dynamin 1 is a GTPase protein involved in synaptic vesicle fission, which facilitates the exocytosis of neurotransmitters necessary for normal signaling. Pathogenic variants in the DNM1 gene are associated with intractable epilepsy, often manifested as infantile spasms at onset, developmental delay, and a movement disorder, and are located in ...

Modeling Sarcoglycanopathy in Danio rerio

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2023
Sarcoglycanopathies, also known as limb girdle muscular dystrophy 3-6, are rare muscular dystrophies characterized, although heterogeneous, by high disability, with patients often wheelchair-bound by late adolescence and frequently developing respiratory and cardiac problems.

Danio rerio, the Zebrafish [PDF]

open access: yesYeast, 2000
The zebrafish has long been a favourite model for the study of vertebrate development. Here we provide an overview of the current state of knowledge and resources for the study of this fish, with comments on the future direction of zebrafish genomics from Professor Mark Fishman and Dr Stephen Wilson.

A single Danio rerio hars gene encodes both cytoplasmic and mitochondrial histidyl-tRNA synthetases. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Histidyl tRNA Synthetase (HARS) is a member of the aminoacyl tRNA synthetase (ARS) family of enzymes. This family of 20 enzymes is responsible for attaching specific amino acids to their cognate tRNA molecules, a critical step in protein synthesis ...

Development and genetics of red coloration in the zebrafish relative Danio albolineatus

open access: yeseLife, 2021
Animal pigment patterns play important roles in behavior and, in many species, red coloration serves as an honest signal of individual quality in mate choice.

Enhancement of zebrafish sperm production via a large body-sized surrogate with germ cell transplantation

open access: yesCommunications Biology, 2023
Zebrafish (Danio rerio) is a commonly-used vertebrate model species for many research areas. However, its low milt volume limits effective cryopreservation of sperm from a single individual and often precludes dividing a single semen sample to conduct ...

Developmental energetics of zebrafish, Danio rerio [PDF]

open access: yesComparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Molecular & Integrative Physiology, 2011
Using zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a case study, we show that the maturity concept of Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) theory is a useful metric for developmental state. Maturity does not depend on food or temperature contrary to age and to some extent length. We compile the maturity levels for each developmental milestone recorded in staging atlases.
