Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 64, Issue 49, December 1, 2025.In cancer cells, the induction of DNA replication stress by HU activates CHK1 by autophosphorylation. This leads to cell cycle arrest and recruits the DNA repair protein WRN to promote DNA repair and cell survival. In such cells, addition of the CHK1 inhibitor 9a propels DNA damage and apoptosis.
