Commonalities of platelet dysfunction in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and underlying comorbidities

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1013-1028, April 2025.
Abstract Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is characterized by a lack of a specific targeted treatment and a complex, partially unexplored pathophysiology. Common comorbidities associated with HFpEF are hypertension, atrial fibrillation, obesity and diabetes.

Cardiac remodelling in the era of the recommended four pillars heart failure medical therapy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1029-1044, April 2025.
Abstract Cardiac remodelling is a key determinant of worse cardiovascular outcome in patients with heart failure (HF) and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). It affects both the left ventricle (LV) structure and function as well as the left atrium (LA) and the right ventricle (RV).

The effects of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors on the ‘forgotten’ right ventricle

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1045-1058, April 2025.
Abstract With the progress in diagnosis, treatment and imaging techniques, there is a growing recognition that impaired right ventricular (RV) function profoundly affects the prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF), irrespective of their left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).

Dapagliflozin and Sirtuin-1 interaction and mechanism for ameliorating atrial fibrillation in a streptozotocin-induced rodent diabetic model

open access: yesBiomolecules & Biomedicine
The incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF) increases with age and is particularly high in individuals with diabetes. Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i), such as dapagliflozin, show promise in treating heart failure (HF) and reducing the ...

Dapagliflozin Attenuates Hyperglycemia Related Osteoporosis in ZDF Rats by Alleviating Hypercalciuria

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2019
Recent studies showed that in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), Sodium-dependent glucose transporters 2 inhibitor (SGLT2I) may cause potential adverse effects on skeleton such as increasing the risk of fracture.

Implementation of guideline‐recommended medical therapy for patients with heart failure in Europe

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 790-798, April 2025.
Abstract Physicians' adherence to guideline‐recommended heart failure (HF) treatment remains suboptimal, especially regarding the target doses. In particular, there is evidence that non‐cardiologists are less compliant with HF guideline recommendations. This is likely to have a detrimental impact on patients' survival, readmissions and quality of life.

Efficacy and safety of dapagliflozin in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 with and without type 2 diabetes: a prespecified analysis of the DARE-19 randomized trial

open access: yesCardiovascular Diabetology
Background Although several previous studies tested SGLT2 inhibitors in the setting of an acute, non-cardiovascular illness, detailed information on their efficacy and safety among participants with and without type 2 diabetes (T2D) from double-blind ...

Projecting the benefit of vericiguat in PARADIGM‐HF and DAPA‐HF populations: Insights from the VICTORIA trial

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1479-1484, April 2025.
Abstract Aims The VICTORIA trial demonstrated a significant reduction in the primary composite outcome of heart failure (HF) hospitalization or cardiovascular death with vericiguat relative to placebo in high‐risk HF. This study aimed to contextualize treatment effects of vericiguat in populations with varying risk profiles simulated from the PARADIGM ...

Dapagliflozin: A Promising Strategy to Combat Cisplatin-Induced Hepatotoxicity in Wistar Rats

open access: yesBiology
Recognizing the challenges posed by chemotherapy, specifically the hepatotoxic effects of drugs like cisplatin, this study aimed to examine the hepatoprotective potential of dapagliflozin to mitigate cisplatin-induced hepatotoxicity in a rat model.
