Host specificity and genetics of host resistance in the "Daphnia-Pasteuria" host-parasite system [PDF]
Antagonistic coevolution plays an important role in a large number of evolutionary and ecological phenomena. Furthermore, according to the Red Queen Theory coevolution between hosts and their parasites may explain the maintenance of sexual reproduction ...

Annotation of the Daphnia magna nuclear receptors: Comparison to Daphnia pulex [PDF]
Most nuclear receptors (NRs) are ligand-dependent transcription factors crucial in homeostatic physiological responses or environmental responses. We annotated the Daphnia magna NRs and compared them to Daphnia pulex and other species, primarily through phylogenetic analysis. Daphnia species contain 26 NRs spanning all seven gene subfamilies.

Desiccation of rock pool habitats and its influence onpopulation persistence in a Daphnia metacommunity [PDF]
Habitat instability has an important influence on species' occurrence and community composition. For freshwater arthropods that occur in ephemeral rock pools, the most drastic habitat instabilities are droughts and the intermittent availability of water.

Environmental DNA tracks zooplankton population dynamics in experimental mesocosms
Environmental DNA (eDNA) holds notable potential for biomonitoring and ecological research. However, its utility for quantifying temporal changes in abundance, biomass, and diversity remains contentious.

Daphnia metacommunity dynamics : the roles of inbreeding, parasitism, competition, and dispersal [PDF]
The habitats of many species are not continuous but fragmented, either naturally or increasingly due to human land use. Communities of species inhabiting fragmented habitat patches are connected by dispersal and form a metacommunity, a spatial overlay of

Apprendre à voir, apprendre à dire
The emergence of a microscopic science in the 18th century was marked by an attempt to standardize the methods of observation and also of description. How can these methods be shared?

Food quantity and quality shapes reproductive strategies of Daphnia
In freshwater environments, one of the challenges aquatic grazers face are periods of suboptimal food quantity and quality. In a life table experiment, the effects of food quantity (a gradient of algae concentration) and quality (a diet of cyanobacteria)
