Turbulent diffusion and mixing in interstellar dark clouds with adsorption onto grains [PDF]
This paper reports the results of models of dark cloud chemistry incorporating a depth dependent density distribution with diffusive mixing and adsorption onto grains. The model is based on the approach taken by Xie et al. (1995), with the addition of grain accretion effects.

Astrochemical Modeling of Propargyl Radical Chemistry in TMC-1
Recent detections of aromatic species in dark molecular clouds suggest that formation pathways may be efficient at very low temperatures and pressures, yet current astrochemical models are unable to account for their derived abundances, which can often ...

Turbulence in the interstellar medium [PDF]
Turbulence is ubiquitous in the insterstellar medium and plays a major role in several processes such as the formation of dense structures and stars, the stability of molecular clouds, the amplification of magnetic fields, and the re-acceleration and ...

Nuclear Processes in Dark Interstellar Matter of H(0) Decrease the Hope of Migrating to Exoplanets
It is still generally assumed that interstellar travel will be possible after purely technical development and thus that mankind can move to some suitable exoplanet when needed.

Detection of Interstellar E-1-cyano-1,3-butadiene in GOTHAM Observations of TMC-1
We report the detection of the lowest-energy conformer of E -1-cyano-1,3-butadiene ( E -1- ${{\rm{C}}}_{4}{{\rm{H}}}_{5}\mathrm{CN}$ ), a linear isomer of pyridine, using the fourth data reduction of the GBT Observations of TMC-1: Hunting for Aromatic ...

The 12C/13C Ratio in Interstellar Dark Clouds [PDF]
Since 13C is believed to be produced by non-equilibrium CNO processing in stellar evolution (Truran 1977), measurements of the carbon ratio Rc ≡ [12C] / [13C] in the interstellar medium may provide important information on nucleo-synthesis. Commonly, the ratio (N13/N18)LTE ≡ [13CO/C18O]LTE is measured and from this RLTE ≡ [12CO/13CO]LTE is deduced and ...

Diffuse interstellar clouds associated with dark clouds
Measurements of CH emission at 9 cm toward the bright stars ..cap alpha.. Cam and kappa Cas and from dark clouds near the stars reveal an association between diffuse clouds and dark clouds. Here the term diffuse clouds refers to clouds seen in optical absorption; the term dark clouds refers to opaque regions on the Palomar Sky Survey observed through ...

Gas-Phase Reactivity of OH Radicals With Ammonia (NH3) and Methylamine (CH3NH2) at Around 22 K
Interstellar molecules containing N atoms, such as ammonia (NH3) and methylamine (CH3NH2), could be potential precursors of amino acids like the simplest one, glycine (NH2CH2COOH).

The effect of dark matter on the Jeans instability with the q-nonextensive velocity distribution
Based on the framework of nonextensive statistics and its related kinetic theory, the Jeans instability in a self-gravitational system composed of dark and bright matters is restudied. The results show that the nonextensivity, the presence of dark matter,

Recent Observations of Organic Molecules in Nearby Cold, Dark Interstellar Clouds [PDF]
We report recent investigations of the organic chemistry of relatively nearby cold, dark interstellar clouds. Specifically, we confirm the presence of interstellar tricarbon monoxide (C3O) in Taurus Molecular Cloud1 (TMC-1); report the first detection in such regions of acetaldehyde (CH3CHO), the most complex oxygen-containing organic molecule yet ...
