Dark matter-systematics of its distribution

Journal of Astrophysics and Astronomy, 1986
The dynamical masses of dwarf-spheroidals, spiral and elliptical galaxies, dwarf irregular binaries, groups of galaxies and clusters are shown to lie in a band about the M ∼ ρR3line. The value of ρ is approximately the same as that estimated for unseen matter in the solar neighbourhood.

The dark matter distribution of NGC 5921

Indian Journal of Physics, 2017
We used the neutral atomic hydrogen data of the Very Large Array for the spiral galaxy NGC 5921 with z = 0.0045 at the distance of 22.4 Mpc, to investigate the nature of dark matter. The investigation was based on two theories, namely, dark matter and Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND). We presented the kinematic analysis of the rotation curve with two

Distribution of Dark Matter in Galaxies

1989
The current evidence for dark matter in galaxies is briefly reviewed. While for ellipticals the evidence for dark halos is not yet overwhelming, for disk galaxies we can already start to constrain the distribution of the dark matter. The global M/L-ratios out to the largest radii where the tracers of the mass are still reliable are below the values of ...

Model-Independent Estimates of Dark Matter Distributions

Journal of the American Statistical Association, 2008
A new nonparametric method is described to estimate the distribution of mass within spherical galaxies. The problem of estimating the mass, M(r), within radius r is converted into a problem of estimating a regression function nonparametrically, subject to shape restrictions.
