Ultrasound Modulation of Visual Circuits in Mice Independent of Auditory Confound

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, Qiu et al. found that low‐intensity ultrasound can directly activate sparse ultrasound‐sensitive neurons (UNs) in the primary visual cortex (V1) of deafened mice. The proportion of these sparse UNs is pressure‐dependent. Furthermore, ultrasound modulates visual circuitry with distinct excitatory and inhibitory effects.

Giant Switchable Remanent Polarization and Photocurrent in Ferroelectric Thin Film Photomemristor for In Situ Training

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The device exhibits excellent ferroelectric performance and significant photoelectric response. It can adapt to light stimuli of varying power and wavelengths while achieving a stable and tunable photovoltaic response state. Moreover, the device can utilize photoconductive states of different directions and magnitudes to achieve pattern classification ...

Good Liars Are Neither 'Dark' Nor Self-Deceptive.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Deception is a central component of the personality 'Dark Triad' (Machiavellianism, Psychopathy and Narcissism). However, whether individuals exhibiting high scores on Dark Triad measures have a heightened deceptive ability has received little ...

Comparing the Measured and Latent Dark Triad: Are Three Measures Better than One?

open access: yesJournal of Methods and Measurement in the Social Sciences, 2011
Could measurement level be a factor worth considering when studying the Dark Triad (i.e., narcissism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism)? In two studies (N  = 465), we compared the relative fit of two Dark Triad models: one that treats the three measures

Long‐Tea‐CLIP: An Expert‐Level Multimodal AI Framework for Fine‐Grained Green Tea Grading Across Five Sensory Dimensions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Long‐Tea‐CLIP (Contrastive Language‐Image Pre‐training) presents a multimodal AI framework that integrates visual, metabolomic, and sensory knowledge to grade green tea across appearance, soup color, aroma, taste, and infused leaf. By combining expert‐guided modeling with CLIP‐supervised learning, the system delivers fine‐grained quality evaluation and

Multidimensional perfectionism and narcissism: Grandiose or vulnerable? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Multidimensional perfectionism is related to grandiose narcissism, with other-oriented perfectionism showing the strongest, most consistent relationships. The relationships with vulnerable narcissism, however, are unclear.

Selective Lithium Recovery via Photothermal Evaporation and Hydration‐Controlled Adsorption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bilayer Mo‐LDH@Sponge composite is developed to couple interfacial photothermal evaporation with hydration‐controlled lithium adsorption. Solar‐induced heating dynamically regulates Li+ hydration and transport, enabling selective lithium capture from saline water. This work provides mechanistic insight into photothermal–adsorption coupling for energy‐

The Relationship of Empathy and Impulsivity to The Dark Tetrad of Personality [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Though relationships between empathy, impulsivity, and personality traits making up the Dark Tetrad of personality have been studied individually, the relationship of empathy and impulsivity to the Dark Tetrad of personality simultaneously has not been ...

Modulating Local Electronic Structure via Cluster Engineering on Cobalt Phosphide for Efficient Water/Seawater Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The heterostructure benefits from the high dispersion of FeOx nanoclusters on the porous CoxP substrate, while the interfacial bonds Fe‐O‐Co enhance charge transport and redistribution, resulting in excellent oxygen evolution reaction performance and strong potential for practical applications.
