KIF26B plays an important role in kidney development. We engineered mice lacking the C‐terminal region of KIF26B and found severe kidney defects, including bilateral renal agenesis, similar to full Kif26b knockout mice. The mutation disrupted nephron progenitor condensation and reduced Gdnf‐Wnt11 signaling, showing that the KIF26B C‐terminal region is ...

Configurations of imperialism and their displacements in the novels of Joseph Conrad.
PhDThis thesis examines certain configurations of imperialism and their displacements in the novels of Joseph Conrad beginning from the premise that imperialism is rationalised through a dualistic model of self/"other" and functions as a hierarchy of

In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

Fuzzy dark matter and the dark dimension
AbstractWe propose a new dark matter contender within the context of the so-called “dark dimension”, an innovative 5-dimensional construct that has a compact space with characteristic length-scale in the micron range. The new dark matter candidate is the radion, a bulk scalar field whose quintessence-like potential drives an inflationary phase ...

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Hydrostatic pressure activates HIF‐1α via β‐catenin to promote stemness in breast cancer cells
To mimic the elevated intestinal fluid pressure in breast cancers, we loaded human breast cancer cells (MCF‐7, MDA‐MB‐453, and BT‐474) to 50 mmHg hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure exposure upregulated HIF‐1α and induced stemness in MCF‐7 and BT‐474 cells.
