MENSURAÇÃO DOS NÍVEIS SÉRICOS DE CORTISOL E DE LACTATO DESIDROGENASE COMO INDICADORES DE ESTRESSE EM CUTIA (Dasyprocta azarae) [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Veterinary Science, 1998

Drivers of large carnivore density in non‐hunted, multi‐use landscapes

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 5, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Protected areas serve as population strongholds for many large carnivores, with multi‐use landscapes along their borders forming the front‐lines of wildlife conservation. Understanding large carnivore population dynamics within working landscapes is difficult where anthropogenic mortality is high and unregulated.

Roadkill patterns in Latin American birds and mammals

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Biogeography, Volume 31, Issue 9, Page 1756-1783, September 2022., 2022
Abstract Aim Roads are a major threat for wildlife, degrading habitat and causing mortality via wildlife–vehicle collisions. In Latin America, the conjunction of high biodiversity and a rapidly expanding road network is reason for concern. We introduce an approach that combines species traits and habitat preferences to describe vulnerability and map ...

Limited temporal response of Cerrado mammals to anthropogenic pressure in areas under distinct levels of protection

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, Volume 317, Issue 1, Page 43-55, May 2022., 2022
We used camera trap data to investigate whether Cerrado mammals would shift part of their activity towards the night in response to anthropogenic pressure. Our results revealed that 12 out of 14 species investigated did not show a temporal response to pressure.

Sowing forests: a synthesis of seed dispersal and predation by agoutis and their influence on plant communities

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 96, Issue 6, Page 2425-2445, December 2021., 2021
ABSTRACT Granivorous rodents have been traditionally regarded as antagonistic seed predators. Agoutis (Dasyprocta spp.), however, have also been recognized as mutualistic dispersers of plants because of their role as scatter‐hoarders of seeds, especially for large‐seeded species.

Confirmation of the presence of Dasyprocta azarae in the Paraguayan Chaco

open access: yesTherya Notes, 2020
Azara’s Agouti (Dasyprocta azarae) was included within the mastofauna of Paraguay’s Chaco until 2016. Later literature exclude it from the region, since no published records include a concrete evidence like museum specimens, DNA sequences or photos. The objective of this note is to provide evidence of the distribution of D.
