STUDIES ON STRONGYLOIDES AGOUTII SP. NOV. FROM THE AGOUTI (DASYPROCTA AGOUTI) [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Research, 1940
A morphological and biological study is presented of a hitherto unrecorded member of the genus Strongyloides from the golden-rumped agouti (Dasyprocta agouti), a rodent native to Trinidad, B.W.I., and northern South America. The name Strongyloides agoutii sp. nov.

The agouti (Dasyprocta sp) in biomedical research and captivity.

Laboratory animal science, 1976
Agoutis (Dasyprocta sp) are hystricomorph rodents belonging to the family Dasyproctidae. Utilization of agoutis in a research program of the National Institutes of Health necessitated the development of suitable methods for feeding, housing and collecting blood. The rodents were maintained successfully in conventional dog cages and kennels, and thrived

An evaluation of sedatives and anesthetics in the agouti (Dasyprocta sp).

Laboratory animal science, 1976
Seven drugs administered im were evaluated to determine their efficacy in immobilizing captive agoutis. Ketamine HCl (63-83 mg/kg) and phencyclidine HCl (16.5-22.0 mg/kg) produced immobilization and analgesia. Phencyclidine administration was accompanied by numerous side effects and prolonged recovery. Xylazine HCl (3-70 mg/kg) and fentanyl-droperidol (

Advancing Chronology Building for Introduced Agouti (Dasyprocta sp.) in the Pre-Columbian Lesser Antilles, Caribbean

Between 2500 and 500 BP Indigenous peoples introduced numerous animals to the Caribbean from the continental Americas. Among these was the agouti (Dasyprocta sp.), a medium-sized, Neotropical rodent. Although the agouti is the most widespread and ubiquitous of precolumbian introduced animals, attention to the cultural dynamics and chronology of its ...

Biological values of the infant, juvenile, and adult agouti (Dasyprocta sp) with emphasis on microbial flora.

Laboratory animal science, 1976
Normal values for intestinal flora were determined on four adult, two juvenile, and four infant agoutis (Dasyprocta sp) maintained at our institution. Serologic, hematologic, biochemical, and histologic observations were also made on these same agoutis, and serologic, microbiologic, and endoparasitic tests were made on serum and fecal samples from ...
