Rieske Oxygenase‐Catalyzed Biotransformations in Recombinant Cupriavidus necator Fueled by Formate Oxidation

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
In this study, formatotrophic biotransformations in recombinant Cupriavidus necator catalyzed by Rieske oxygenases (ROs) toward various oxyfunctionalized olefins are demonstrated. The oxidation of formate regenerates NADH, the ROs’ cofactor, essentially fueling the reaction.
