Improved robustness in time series analysis of gene expression data by polynomial model based clustering [PDF]
Microarray experiments produce large data sets that often contain noise and considerable missing data. Typical clustering methods such as hierarchical clustering or partitional algorithms can often be adversely affected by such data.

Data for: Clustering Benchmark Datasets Exploiting the Fundamental Clustering Problems
This directory contains the Fundamental Clustering Challenges. It contains different data sets with a given classification. The data sets are rather simple and low in dimensionality. Each dataset adresses a certain problem for clustering.

Neutralization of the PTX3/CD44 axis suppresses TGF‐β1 signaling in kidney fibrosis
This study investigates how the PTX3/CD44 axis promotes kidney fibrosis by activating TGF‐β1 signaling. We demonstrate that the neutralizing antibody WHC‐001 effectively inhibits this pathway, suppressing myofibroblast activation and partial epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT).

Consensus clustering and functional interpretation of gene-expression data [PDF]
Microarray analysis using clustering algorithms can suffer from lack of inter-method consistency in assigning related gene-expression profiles to clusters.

Going viral − Virus‐targeting nanobodies for research, diagnostics and therapy
The increasing prevalence of viral diseases represents a major threat for global human health. Nanobodies, small binding fragments derived from camelid heavy‐chain antibodies, offer versatile tools for viral research, diagnostics, and antiviral therapy.

Robust Adaptive Graph Regularized Non-Negative Matrix Factorization
Data clustering, which aims to divide the given samples into several different groups, has drawn much attention in recent years. As a powerful tool, non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) has been applied successfully in clustering tasks. However, there

Vacuolar H+‐ATPase (V‐ATPase) is a multisubunit rotary proton pump that acidifies intracellular compartments. Using elastic network models, we identified conserved hinge residues that govern its large‐scale functional motions. We show that intrinsically encoded ‘soft modes’ drive critical functional transitions, including rotary catalysis and ...

Comparing the paths of Hedgehog release in artificial and natural settings
Hh morphogens require solubilization factors to overcome their tight association with the plasma membrane and signal to distant cells, but the precise functions of these factors are controversial. Here, we use published in vivo observations as the most relevant evidence to test their suggested functions and discuss contradictions and gaps between in ...
