DEByE – Data Extraction By Example
Data & Knowledge Engineering, 2002Summary: In this paper we present DEByE (Data Extraction By Example), an approach to extracting data from Web sources, based on a small set of examples specified by the user. The novelty is in the fact that the user specifies examples according to a structure of his liking and that this structure is described at example specification time.

Building extraction from LIDAR data
IEEE/ISPRS Joint Workshop on Remote Sensing and Data Fusion over Urban Areas (Cat. No.01EX482), 2002A strategy for building reconstruction relying on LIDAR data only is presented. Roofs are modeled as plane surfaces, connected along ridges and bordered by the eaves lines. Edge pixels and plane surfaces are detected and labelled as roof slopes based on gradient orientation and plane fitting by RANSAC; a similar procedure applies to eaves lines.

Information extraction from narrative data
American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 2012Interesting and exciting work is being done in the medical field to advance clinical decision-support (CDS) technology. One major focus of research is finding ways to access relevant information from a patient’s electronic health record (EHR) and linking that data to CDS tools.

Extracting footfalls from voxel data
2010 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology, 2010In this paper, we present a method for extracting footfall locations from three dimensional voxel data created from a pair of silhouettes. With the growth of the elderly population, there is a need for passive monitoring of physical activity to allow older adults to continue living in independent settings. Prior research using anonymized video data has
