A phenomenological approach to multisource data integration: Analysing infrared and visible data [PDF]
A new method is described for combining multisensory data for remote sensing applications. The approach uses phenomenological models which allow the specification of discriminatory features that are based on intrinsic physical properties of imaged ...

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

More than rapid identification—Free plant identification apps can also be highly accurate
Hart et al. (2023) conducted a study to evaluate the accuracy of five plant identification apps based on snapshot images as used in practice by field ecologists. Their results revealed varying accuracies per app, ranging from 86.9% to 46.4%.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Opportunistic plant observations reveal spatial and temporal gradients in phenology
Opportunistic plant records provide a rapidly growing source of spatiotemporal plant observation data. Here, we used such data to explore the question whether they can be used to detect changes in species phenologies.

The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Utilizing data integration models in data integrations
Data integration is a process that enables communication between different systems. Many data integration project fails due to not understanding the business objectives and technical requirements. Data integration modeling strives to explain what functionalities are expected from a technical solution for desired results to support business processes ...
