High‐resolution scanning electrochemical cell microscopy (SECCM) mapping shows that plastic deformation near fatigue cracks in CA6NM stainless steel progressively reduces passivity and increases pitting susceptibility. This work reveals how mechanical stress drives localized corrosion in corrosion‐fatigue conditions.

This study showcases the airbrush method, a novel coating technique for the preparation of thin black paint coatings for infrared camera measurements. Using the method, coatings with an emissivity of 0.95, and as thin as 3 µm can be prepared. The method is affordable, non‐destructive, and can be prepared onto a wide range of substrates while ...

Mining for treasures of information: data mining
Data mining is relatively new in data analysis. It is a process that is used to explore and analyze large quantities of data in order to discover meaningful patterns or rules by automatic or semi-automatic means. Currently information-rich sectors benefit from this and most significant and hence profitable applications are in marketing.
