A single–cell type transcriptomics map of human tissues

open access: yesScience Advances, 2021
Single-cell RNA analysis has been integrated with spatial protein profiling to create a single–cell type map of human tissues. Advances in molecular profiling have opened up the possibility to map the expression of genes in cells, tissues, and organs in ...

Dimensionality reduction for visualizing single-cell data using UMAP

open access: yesNature Biotechnology, 2018
Advances in single-cell technologies have enabled high-resolution dissection of tissue composition. Several tools for dimensionality reduction are available to analyze the large number of parameters generated in single-cell studies. Recently, a nonlinear

Combining transient dynamics and logistic‐asymptotic growth to study the recovery of two seabird populations after rat eradication

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examines the demographic dynamics of two seabird populations on Tromelin Island, 15 years after the eradication of brown rats. The results indicate that these populations are in good health and are expected to continue growing until breeding sites are saturated in about a century.

Iteratively regularized Newton-type methods for general data misfit functionals and applications to Poisson data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We study Newton type methods for inverse problems described by nonlinear operator equations $F(u)=g$ in Banach spaces where the Newton equations $F'(u_n;u_{n+1}-u_n) = g-F(u_n)$ are regularized variationally using a general data misfit functional and a ...

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

Data storage, image tube type [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Method and apparatus for the storage of digital or analog electrical signals are provided by a memory storage system employing a conventional vidicon tube. At the beginning of an operating cycle, the vidicon is conditioned to accept electrical data input

Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.

Designing a commutative replicated data type [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Commuting operations greatly simplify consistency in distributed systems. This paper focuses on designing for commutativity, a topic neglected previously. We show that the replicas of \emph{any} data type for which concurrent operations commute converges

Single-cell RNA-seq data analysis on the receptor ACE2 expression reveals the potential risk of different human organs vulnerable to 2019-nCoV infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2020
It has been known that, the novel coronavirus, 2019-nCoV, which is considered similar to SARS-CoV, invades human cells via the receptor angiotensin converting enzyme II (ACE2).
