Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Performance issues in database systems

open access: yesMathematical and Computer Modelling, 1990
The performance of transaction processing systems is affected by contention for hardware as well as software resources (data objects). Software contention becomes prominent in database systems because concurrency control mechanism, which is used to insure integrity of the database, restrict concurrent and conflicting access to data objects of a ...

Electron Cloud Effects in Accelerators

open access: yes, 2012
We present a brief summary of various aspects of the electron-cloud effect (ECE) in accelerators. For further details, the reader is encouraged to refer to the proceedings of many prior workshops, either dedicated to EC or with significant EC contents ...

PEAKS DB: De Novo Sequencing Assisted Database Search for Sensitive and Accurate Peptide Identification*

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Proteomics, 2011
Many software tools have been developed for the automated identification of peptides from tandem mass spectra. The accuracy and sensitivity of the identification software via database search are critical for successful proteomics experiments.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Creativity In Psychoanalysis: International Scientific Production (1996/1998)

open access: yesPsicologia, 2000
Creativity in psychoanalysis has been argued based in clinical practices that do not depict the occurrence of systematic researches for its fundamentals.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

The Role of Social Capital in Avoiding Over-education [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Română de Sociologie, 2013
In post-socialist countries, overqualification is a current and relevant issue, butdespite its importance, this topic is not sufficiently addressed in the literature, especially in the post-communist region.

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

MANAGING VARIANT DISCREPANCY IN HEREDITARY CANCER: CLINICAL PRACTICE, BARRIERS, AND DESIRED RESOURCES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Variants are changes in the DNA whose phenotypic effects may or may not be definitively understood. Because variant interpretation is a complex process, sources sometimes disagree on the classification of a variant, which is called a variant discrepancy.
