An Instrument for Merging of Bibliographic Databases
Proceedings of the 15th ACM/IEEE-CS Joint Conference on Digital Libraries, 2015The process of merging two or more library catalogues is considered in this paper. It's necessary to solve the problem of duplicate detection and merging into one database instead of simple union of different resources. The toolbox Cflib for duplicate detection and merging has been developed by us.

The development of the conceptual 'Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records' (FRBR) Model enables records to be considered in terms of contextual relationships. Developments in software can capitalise on this to significantly improve the display of works through surfacing of these relationships.

Bibliographic Databases in Tribology
Journal of Tribology, 1985It is important that the modern-day researcher and engineer stay abreast of technology in his field, but this task is made very difficult by the recent flood of scientific and technical information. Coping with the information explosion requires the use of computerized information systems. This paper reviews computer-based information retrieval systems

A design for an online bibliographic database: The DOBIS-LIBIS database
Information Processing & Management, 1981Abstract The database to be used with an online bibliographic information system must meet a number of requirements which are often not satisfied by conventional database management systems. Most important of these is the requirement for full authority file control over the indexes to the database.

Derivative bibliographic relationships: The work relationship in a global bibliographic database
Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 1999To contribute to the development of a sophisticated control of bibliographic works research must build on the growing understanding of the nature of the work and the constitution of bibliographic families. The present study was designed to address the following in the context of a global bibliographic database: the OCLC Online Computer Library Center's

Interfacing online bibliographic databases with Z39.50
Proceedings of the 1997 International Database Engineering and Applications Symposium (Cat. No.97TB100166), 2002Many online databases are available on the Internet, each one with its own access procedures and a special user interface and query language. The Z39.50 protocol standard offers a solution to this situation of diversity and lacking interoperability. However the majority of online databases do not yet support Z39.50. We describe a system that interfaces
