PTG‐Dependent Glycogen Metabolic Dysfunction Drives Impaired Adipose Browning: A Novel Mechanism Linking PM2.5 to Metabolic Disorders

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study provides the first evidence that PM2.5 impairs iWAT browning via PTG‐mediated glycogen metabolism disruption, which is initiated by ADRB3 inhibition and subsequently triggers VEGFB upregulation. It thereby delineates the ADRB3‐PTG‐VEGFB axis as central to PM2.5‐induced metabolic dysfunction and identifies adipose glycogen metabolism as a ...

Ufmylation‐Deficient DDRGK1 Ameliorates Obesity by Inhibiting FASN‐Mediated Adipocyte Lipogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DDRGK1 regulates de novo lipogenesis via stabilization of fatty acid synthase (FASN). DDRGK1‐mediated UFMylation of FASN prevents its ubiquitin–proteasomal degradation. Reduced DDRGK1 expression or mutation at the key UFMylation site enhances FASN degradation and suppresses fatty acid synthesis (FAS), resulting in smaller adipocytes and improved ...

Studies of Daylight Factor: Improving Daylight Factor by the use of Net Curtains

open access: yes, 1998
An examination of the effect of various types of net curtain on the daylight factor in a domestic room of 4.8m in depth. The types of fabric tested are all commonly in use in the United Kingdom to provide privacy to windows: polyester net, muslin cotton and patterned polyester lace.

Assessment of the discrepancy between daylight factor and using illuminance data methods by climate zones under EN:17037

open access: yesAdvances in Civil and Architectural Engineering
Conducting a rigorous evaluation of the daylight performance of buildings is essential for human health and energy efficiency. Today, there are two main methods used for analysis: the daylight factor, which has been used since the early 1900s, and the ...

Investigating Daylight Quality In Malaysian Government Office Buildings Through Daylight Factor And Surface Luminance

open access: yes, 2011
In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in using daylight to save energy in buildings. In tropical regions, daylighting is always an energy saver. On the other hand, daylight provides visual comfort. According to standards, it shows that many criteria should be taken into consideration in order to have daylight utilization and visual ...

A Modular DNAzyme for Precise Visualization and Intervention of Alternative Splicing Isoforms in Live Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A Stringent dUPlex‐activated Error Robust (SUPER) DNAzyme system enables real‐time imaging of alternative mRNA splicing (e.g., Bcl‐xL/Bcl‐xS) in living cells via target‐triggered split‐DNAzyme reassembly and dual‐color fluorescence. It also achieves mRNA‐selective knockdown through DNAzyme‐based gene regulation, serving as a versatile tool for splicing

Local‐to‐Nonlocal Second‐Harmonic Generation from Electrically Tunable Intersubband Polaritonic Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A local‐to‐nonlocal SHG process is demonstrated on an electrically tunable metasurface, combining an LSPR at the FF with a TM‐GMR at the SH to achieve independent dual tunability. Through modal‐overlap engineering of the proposed scheme, a high‐χ(2) MQW meta‐atom delivers strong nonlinearity while achieving 2‐DoF SH control with minimal trade‐offs ...
