Heat Treatment Effects on Microstructures and DBTT of F82H Steel Doped with Boron and Nitrogen
Effects of doping with 60 ppm B and/or 200 ppm N and heat treatments on the microstructures and the ductile-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) have been studied for ferritic/martensitic steel F82H. Prior austenitic grain size of standard F82H decreased from about 120 to 30 μm and also the DBTT decreased by about 50°C when the normalizing ...

Recent Improvements in Size Effects Correlations for DBTT and USE of Ferritic Steels
Currently available correlations for the effects of specimen size on the USE were developed for relatively ductile steels and will not serve as well when the steels become embrittled.

Orientation‐dependent mechanical responses in molybdenum‐rhenium alloys evaluated via micro‐pillars
Orientation‐dependent compressive properties are found in Mo‐14Re and Mo‐42Re, but are not found in Mo and Mo‐5Re, which may be attributed to activated multi‐slip planes as increased Re. Solid solution effect of Re not only rely on orientations, but also on Re content. Softening effect occurs in both [100] and [110] Mo‐5Re.

The Influence of Mo Content and Annealing on the Oxidation Behavior of Arc‐Melted Cr–xMo–8Si Alloys
Cr–xMo–8Si alloys (x = 10, 20, and 25 at%) show high potential for a new class of lightweight refractory alloys for high‐temperature applications. Especially worthwhile of further development is the Cr–25Mo–8Si alloy with extremely low mass gain and continuous SiO2 subscale formation, preventing internal oxidation.

Influence of preheating on tungsten damage under pulsed hydrogen plasma exposure
Preheated tungsten plate behavior under multiple pulsed hydrogen plasma irradiations in the PW-7 plasma accelerator was investigated. The preheating temperature was 973 K, which is above the ductile to brittle transition temperature (DBTT ≈ 673 K).

DBTT Reduction Enabled by SiO2-Bearing Flux in Submerged Arc Welds
The ductile-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) plays a critical role in determining the integrity of welded structures under common low-temperature service conditions. Fluxes are proven effective agents that significantly alter weld compositions and resulting microstructures.

Crack‐Free Tungsten Fabricated via Laser Powder Bed Fusion Additive Manufacturing
Additive manufacturing of tungsten (W) is challenging due to its high melting point, and brittleness from GB oxides. In this study, the processing of W through laser powder bed fusion is investigated. Parts are fabricated under argon (Ar) and nitrogen (N2).

Hump on upper shelf of ductile-brittle transition temperature curve of a plain carbon steel [PDF]
The ductile—brittle transition temperature (DBTT) in a plain carbon steel has been studied in a series of Charpy V notch samples. Both non-standard and standard samples were used in the as drawn, normalised and annealed conditions.
