Investigation of an Updated Continuum Damage Model in the DBTT Region

open access: closedAIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
With the investigation of influence of the stress triaxiality on the fracture properties, an updated continuum damage model is proposed and realized by FEA to evaluate the temperature effect and the strain rate effect on the fracture properties in the ductile and brittle transition temperature (DBTT) region.

Progress in developing DBTT determinations from miniature disk bend tests

open access: closedJournal of Nuclear Materials, 1986
Experiments to investigate the possibility of obtaining ductile-to-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) data using bend tests of 3 mm diameter disks are described. A disk specimen 0.40 mm thick with two V-shaped grooves, 0.10 mm deep at right angles to each other along diameters of the disk face, is found to be suitable.

Reduction method of DBTT shift due to irradiation for reduced-activation ferritic/martensitic steels

open access: closedJournal of Nuclear Materials, 2010
Abstract The method for reducing irradiation-induced DBTT shift of reduced-activation ferritic/martensitic steels was examined. F82H-LN (low nitrogen, 20 ppm), F82H+60 ppm11B+200 ppmN and F82H+60 ppm10B+200 ppmN steels tempered at 780 °C for 0.5 h were irradiated at 250 °C to 2 dpa, and the results for Charpy impact tests were analyzed.

Effect of Initial Heat Treatment on DBTT of F82H Steel Irradiated by Neutrons

open access: closedFusion Science & Technology, 2005
The dependence of ductile-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) on tempering time and temperature was examined for a martensitic steel F82H irradiated at 150 and 250°C to a neutron dose of 1.9 dpa ...

Determination of Ductile-Brittle Transition Temperature (DBTT) in Dynamic Small Punch Test

open access: closedJournal of Testing and Evaluation, 1992
Abstract A dynamic small punch test technique is demonstrated for measuring the ductile-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) of aged Cr-Mo-V turbine rotor steels. Based on fracture energy measurements and fracture surface observations it is shown that the dynamic small punch test specimens exhibit a clear ductile-brittle transition ...

Effect of small additional elements on DBTT of V–4Cr–4Ti irradiated at low temperatures

open access: closedJournal of Nuclear Materials, 1998
Abstract As a part of a program to screen several V–4Cr–4Ti containing Si, Al and Y alloys and optimize the amounts of Si, Al and Y, the Charpy impact test of five kinds of V–4Cr–4Ti–Si–Al–Y alloys by an instrumented Charpy impact testing machine using miniaturized specimens (1.5 mm × 1.5 mm × 20 mm) have been conducted before and after neutron ...

Indentation-energy-to-fracture (IEF) parameter for characterization of DBTT in carbon steels using nondestructive automated ball indentation (ABI) technique

open access: closedScripta Materialia, 1998
Integrity of structures in various technologies depend on the fracture behaviors of materials, and in general the fracture characteristics of s tructural m aterials are evaluated using destructive tests, such as Charpy, fracture toughness, and other such techniques.
