Förster Resonance Energy Transfer in Luminescent Solar Concentrators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 9, Issue 23, August 15, 2022., 2022
Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) may overcome some intrinsic loss pathways in luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs). In this review, key considerations for the design of efficient FRET‐LSCs from the standpoints of the luminophores and host are outlined.

Effect of Scan Length on Densification and Crystallographic Texture Formation of Pure Chromium Fabricated by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
Processing of pure chromium (Cr) encounters substantial challenges due to its high melting point and intrinsic brittleness. Although laser powder bed fusion processing (LPBF) offers a novel processing approach by reaching the temperature required to melt

Effect of neutron irradiation on ductility of tungsten foils developed for tungsten-copper laminates

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2022
Severe plastic deformation of tungsten (W) is known to be an efficient way to reduce its inherently high ductile-to-brittle transition temperature (DBTT), what is essential for its use in components of a fusion reactor.

Technological aspects in blanket design: Effects of micro-alloying and thermo-mechanical treatments of EUROFER97 type steels after neutron irradiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Presently available data on neutron irradiation damage raise doubts on the feasibility of using EUROFER97 steel for a water-cooled starter blanket in a DEMO reactor, since the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) increases significantly for ...

TEM Observation of Dislocation Emission from a Crack at DBTT in Si

open access: yesMATERIALS TRANSACTIONS, 2001
Emission of dislocations from a crack which propagated at the ductile-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) in Si was observed by combined use of focused-ion beam (FIB) technique and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). At the wake of a DBTT crack many dislocation lines and dislocation loops were observed, while a wake of a precrack introduced at ...

The Flexion Initiation Test and an Evidence‐Based Diagnostic Algorithm for Distal Biceps Tendon Tears

open access: yesArthroscopy, Sports Medicine, and Rehabilitation, Volume 3, Issue 3, Page e721-e726, June 2021., 2021
Purpose The purpose of this study was (1) to assess the flexion initiation test’s (FIT) ability to detect distal biceps tendon tears (DBTT) in a cohort of consecutive patients presenting with elbow pain and (2) to generate a reliable evidence‐based diagnostic algorithm using a combination of both the FIT and hook tests.

Current Status of Research on the Oxidation Behavior of Refractory High Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 23, Issue 5, May 2021., 2021
This review summarizes the current stage of high‐temperature oxidation behavior of refractory high entropy alloys (RHEA)—candidates for demanding high‐temperature structural applications. Despite the intrinsic poor oxidation resistance of refractory metals, some RHEA exhibit oxidation protectiveness.
