Capacitor sizing of three‐level neutral point clamped voltage source inverter for electric vehicles: Effects of modulation and motor characteristics

open access: yesIET Power Electronics
A three‐level neutral point clamped (3L‐NPC) voltage source inverter (VSI) topology can be advantageous in electric vehicles with a high DC‐link voltage and a high switching frequency.

Reducing the DC-Link Voltage Ripple by Optimized Pulse Patterns to Increase the Power Density of Traction Inverters in Electric Vehicles

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics
The DC-link capacitor represents a critical component in electric vehicle traction inverters, given that it constitutes the largest single volume within a traction inverter.

Understanding and Tuning Mobile Interfaces in Ferroelectric Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 Thin Films in Relation to Microstructure

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectricity in thin HfO2‐based films offers great possibilities for next‐generation neuromorphic memory devices. There, the response to subcoercive voltage signals is driven by the movement of mobile interfaces and their interaction with crystal defects – a yet rather unexplored aspect, which we shed light on and gain new insights into the complex

DC-Link Current Harmonic Mitigation via Phase-Shifting of Carrier Waves in Paralleled Inverter Systems

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
DC-connected parallel inverter systems are gaining popularity in industrial applications. However, such parallel systems generate excess current ripple (harmonics) at the DC-link due to harmonic interactions between the inverters in addition to the ...

A New Threshold Switching Device With Tunable Negative Differential Resistance Based on ErMnO3 Polymorphs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymorph engineering in ErMnO3 enables low‐voltage, forming‐free threshold switching with tunable negative differential resistance. Conducting orthorhombic regions embedded in an insulating hexagonal matrix provide controlled Joule‐heating‐enhanced Poole–Frenkel transport. The hexagonal phase prevents excessive heating and breakdown.

The Parallel Virtual Infinite Capacitor Applied to DC-Link Voltage Filtering for Wind Turbines

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
We propose the parallel virtual infinite capacitor (PVIC) concept, which refers to two virtual infinite capacitors (VIC) connected to the same DC link and sharing one capacitor, one tuned to low frequencies (LF) and one tuned to high frequencies (HF).

A multi-level converter with a floating bridge for open-ended winding motor drive applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper presents a dual three phase open end winding induction motor drive. The drive consists of a three phase induction machine with open stator phase windings and dual bridge inverter supplied from a single DC voltage source. To achieve multi-level

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

Reliability analysis of single-phase photovoltaic inverters with reactive power support [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Reactive power support is expected to be an emerging ancillary requirement for single-phase photovoltaic (PV) inverters. This work assesses related reliability issues and focuses on the second stage or inversion process in PV inverters. Three PV inverter
