Transformation of conventional transformers for enhanced DC mitigation in AC power networks with advanced grid support

open access: yese-Prime: Advances in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Energy, 2023
The flow of quasi-DC or DC in AC networks may trigger half-cycle saturation of electrical grid transformers that could lead to their internal heating or grid collapse.

Transient stability analysis in Multi-terminal VSC-HVDC grids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A novel approach to transient stability analysis in multi-terminal high voltage direct current (MTDC) grids is presented in this paper. A symmetrical three-phase fault in an ac grid connected to a rectifier terminal of the MTDC grid causes the power ...

Predicting Epileptogenic Tubers in Patients With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Using a Fusion Model Integrating Lesion Network Mapping and Machine Learning

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Accurate localization of epileptogenic tubers (ETs) in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is essential but challenging, as these tubers lack distinct pathological or genetic markers to differentiate them from other cortical tubers.

Coupling Relationship Between Wind Power Grid-connected Power and DC Transmission Power with DC Block Fault

open access: yesZhongguo dianli, 2021
China's primary energy production bases and load centers are inversely distributed and the renewable energy of the production base cluster is delivered through UHVDC cluster, so the coupling characteristics of wind power and DC are complex in the power ...

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Long-Range Response to Transmission Line Disturbances in DC Electricity Grids

open access: yes, 2014
We consider a DC electricity grid composed of transmission lines connecting power generators and consumers at its nodes. The DC grid is described by nonlinear equations derived from Kirchhoff's law.

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...
