The biased transformer DC-to-DC converter

1976 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 1976
A dc-to-dc converter design based on the constant-current flux-reset principle is presented. Such converters use a mulitude of separate individual half-wave switching sections. Each section consists of a power transistor and a transformer which is reset through an external bias current source.

Research on LLC DC-DC Transformer

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Regulated DC-DC converter and unregulated DC-DC transformer is the basic types of DC-DC converter. Now the research is focusing on the regulated form named regulated LLC resonant DC-DC converter. Unregulated form of LLC resonant DC-DC converter named LLC resonant DC-DC transformer is studied in this paper in order to increase the practical topology of ...

Analysis of DC-DC Converters Containing a Transformer

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2006
This paper gives rigorous analysis of a kind of switching converters containing a transformer and shows that some graph-theoretic interpretation for them to work as DC-DC converters is possible.

A Laplace transform approach to the simulation of DC‐DC converters

International Journal of Numerical Modelling: Electronic Networks, Devices and Fields, 2019
AbstractAn approach to the simulation of pulse width modulation (PWM) direct current–direct current (DC‐DC) converters operated under continuous current mode (CCM) and discontinuous current mode (DCM) is presented. It is based on the use of the Laplace transform and of dedicated models for controlled switches and diodes.

DC–DC Converter Implementations Based on Piezoelectric Transformers

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2022
The drive to miniaturize power electronics motivates investigation into alternative passive component technologies such as piezoelectrics, which offer fundamentally higher power density and efficiency capabilities at small scales compared to magnetics.

DC current transformer

1982 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists conference, 1982
A general purpose, magnetically isolated current sensor is described. Based upon the flux nulling technique, this sensor uses a novel flux detector, instead of a Hall effect device, to achieve improved performance at lower cost.

Power improvement of piezoelectric transformer based DC/DC converter

IECON 2012 - 38th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2012
In this paper a novel strategy to increase the power of piezoelectric transformer (PT) by using a cooling system is presented. A thermal pad is directly attached to a PT to dissipate the heat and enhance the power capacity. In a piezoelectric ceramic the heat increase quickly when the vibration velocity become too large.

An Adaptive Control Method of DC Transformers Imitating AC Transformers for Flexible DC Distribution Application

2020 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2020
This paper proposes an adaptive control method for the dc transformer (DCT) of flexible dc distribution system to achieve automatic voltage regulation and bidirectional power transferring like ac transformers in any operation scenario. In the proposed method, each module is controlled at rated voltage ratio mode, thus the input voltage sharing and ...

A dc transformer

IEEE Spectrum, 1966
Although conventional transformers are ac, a device that may be termed a dc transformer has been constructed by using superconductors. To provide an understanding of how such a transformer would operate, some of the properties of type I and type II superconductors are reviewed.

Paralleling DC/DC Switched Converters Based on Piezoelectric Transformers

2009 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2009
One of the most important advantages in using piezoelectric transformers (PT) is that they operate at high frequencies with a very good efficiency (1), tipically higher than 95%. This paper presents a DC/DC converter based on two piezoelectric transformers which duplicates the output voltage frequency ripple, maintaining the switching frequency.
