Volumetric mass transfer and dilution rate as key parameters for sustainable industrial syngas fermentation to isopropyl alcohol: modeling and parametric assessment

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, Volume 20, Issue 2, Page 473-486, March/April 2026.
Abstract Synthesis gas fermentation is a promising route for the valorization of steel mill off‐gas and for replacing conventional fossil‐based isopropyl alcohol (IPA) production. A recent 120 L pilot‐scale study reported 85% gas conversion at 90% product selectivity and claimed a negative global warming potential (GWP) without detailed process design.

Drug Coated Balloon (DCB) angioplasty; DCB Norwich Registry (2009-2015) and a Propensity Score Matched Comparison between DCB and Second Generation Drug Eluting Stents.

open access: yes, 2020
Background Drug coated balloons are semi compliant balloons coated with a chemotherapeutic drug to reduce neo intimal hyperplasia thus reducing the risk of re-stenosis. The lack of any permanent metal/polymer in the coronary artery may reduce future risk of adverse clinical events.

Overcoming Storage Limitations in SiO2—Supported Dual Function Materials for CO2 Capture and Methanation

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, 27 March 2026.
The influence of SiO2 as support in Ru‐ and Na‐based DFMs for integrated CO2 capture and conversion is evaluated through microreactor and FT‐IR studies. The non‐interacting nature of the support limits CO2 uptake by promoting Na agglomeration and reducing accessible storage sites; however, the employment of physical mixtures achieves higher capture ...

Photoinstability of Aryl‐Functionalized Perylene Bisimides at Bay Positions in Ambient Environment

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 10, Issue 3, March 2026.
Aryl‐functionalized perylene bisimides (PBIs) bearing electron‐withdrawing groups (EWGs) at bay positions undergo spontaneous color change upon light exposure in dilute solutions. Although the spectral evolution resembles aggregation, detailed analysis confirms a photoinduced dehydrogenation as the underlying mechanism. Dye molecules are widely used as

Pleistocene Forest Stability Predicts Patterns of Frog Diversity in Central Africa

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
Using high‐resolution paleoclimate reconstructions, we quantified habitat stability for Central African rainforests across 257 time slices since the early Pleistocene. Stacked projections of forest‐dependent frog niches identify both a large, continuous refugium and smaller, highly stable forest blocks embedded within today's forest cover.

Drug-coated balloon versus drug-eluting stent for femoropopliteal total occlusions: intraluminal versus subintimal approaches

open access: yesScientific Reports
Because there is a lack of comparative studies assessing drug-coated balloon (DCB) and drug-eluting stent (DES) outcomes with respect to intraluminal (IL) and subintimal (SI) approaches in femoropopliteal (FP) total occlusive lesions, we compared the ...

Elucidating the Charge‐Separation and Oxidation Dynamics in Fluorenone‐COF/CdS S‐Scheme Heterojunction for Photocatalytic Benzaldehyde and Hydrogen Production

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 2, March 2026.
The novel S‐scheme heterojunction, constructed by combining 1D CdS with 2D Fluorenone‐COF as the oxidation end, is designed for the efficient photocatalytic coupling of hydrogen evolution with benzyl alcohol oxidation. This design achieves the effective separation and mobility of photoinduced charge carriers, a low reaction energy barrier, and reduced ...

π‐Expanded Fluoranthenes as Chromophores With Tailored Properties

open access: yesHelvetica Chimica Acta, Volume 109, Issue 3, March 2026.
A series of π‐expanded fluoranthene scaffolds selectively functionalized with electron donors and acceptors were synthesized. The evolution of the structural, optoelectronic, and redox properties in relation to substitution and cyclization was comprehensively studied both in experiment and in theory. The results identify the compounds as highly tunable
